Heat Wave |
||||||
(deluxe edition) |
||||||
Thundermother are a hard rock band from Sweden formed in 2009. The band have released four albums - 'Rock 'N' Roll Disaster' (2014), 'Road Fever' (2015), 'Thundermother' (2018), and 'Heat Wave' (2020).
After a radical line-up change in 2017 left founding member Filippa Nassil on her own, she quickly rebuilt the band, released a new single, toured with bands such as WASP, Michael Monroe, Danko Jones and Rose Tattoo, and performed at the legendary Wacken Festival in Germany. With two albums in the last two years, the Swedish hard rock sensation continue to pummel a growing worldwide fan base with their blend of heavy hitting hard rock ... and in 2021 will release a two CD deluxe edition of last year's 'Heat Wave'. Not only do you get the complete original album, the second CD features ten other previously unreleased songs - three new, three live, three acoustic, and one Japan bonus.
From their album 'Heat Wave', the songs, 'Driving In Style', 'Dog From Hell', and 'Sleep', are all acoustic versions, with 'Sleep' featuring Jesper Binzer (from Danish rock band D.A.D.). The three live songs - 'Give Me Some Lights', 'Thunderous', and 'Hellevator' - are taken from the bands performance at the Wacken World Wide 2020 virtual festival, with 'Rock 'N' Roll Heaven' a collaboration with guitarist Dregen (Backyard Babies, The Hellacopters) and Pontus Snibb (Bonafide).
And so, what of the new songs on offer... 'The Road Is Ours' is one helluva heavy and overly bombastic blast of hard rock, with the driving bluesy style of the band in top gear. The fast and furious side of the band shows its mettle with the blistering 'Show Me What You Got'. Stepping over the boundary into the heavy metal genre, Thundermother bring a touch of the Motorhead punk/metal crossover attitude to 'Show Me What You Got'. And in stark contrast, 'You Can't Handle Me' is a sultry blues based march. More rocky than The Rocky Mountains, 'You Can't Handle Me' is a glorious hard rock stomp.
Overall, heavy hitting hard rock, and now with bonus songs, 'Heat Wave' deluxe edition is a quintessential addition to your Thundermother collection.
