Legend Of The Starborn

Veonity are a power metal band from Sweden formed in 2013 releasing their debut album 'Gladiator's Tale' in 2015. The bands second full length offering, is the concept album 'Into The Void', released in 2016 and is best described as a dystopic, futuristic space saga. Veonity have toured Europe with the likes of Sabaton and Powerwolf, and also performed at the 2017 Sweden Rock Festival. The bands third album 'Legend Of The Starborn' released in 2018, is the sequel to the space saga that began with 'Into The Void'.

Sweden is a country well known worldwide for producing a myriad of rock and metal bands over the years, beginning in the eighties with such legendary hard rock bands Europe and Treat. the nineties with metallers such as HammerFall and Cryonic Temple, and into the new millennium with the likes of hard rock bands Manimal, Astral Doors and Crazy Lixx. The last ten years have seen the likes of Days Of Jupiter, JD Miller and Adrenaline Rush come forth, with Veonity one of the country's newest to emerge. The bands third album is a weighty offering, fourteen songs over an incredible seventy six minutes, with six songs stretching past the six minute mark. Opening with the barn storming 'Rise Again', Veonity launch their new album in a ferociously fast paced manner, foot on the monitor style heavy metal blazing a scorching trail. Very heavy hitting and as catchy as hell, 'Rise Again' is a classic blast of European power metal at its finest. Without a pause for breath, the album forges ahead with (I guess) the title song 'Starborn'. A mid tempo march of heaviness, 'Starborn' is an anthemic delivery of vicious riffage that is gonna slap you very hard. Phenomenal pace takes over the album with the fiery 'Guiding Light' a rocket powered fury of ferocious power/speed metal. The sing a long ability of the chorus is way off the scale, and will be sung, screamed and screeched by fans the world over. What an opening triple salvo...

Mid to high tempo heavy power metal takes front and centre with the massively melodic and infectious 'Winds Of Asgard'. Veonity are showing their adeptness at either fast or mid tempo heavy metal, so far delivering an exceptionally catchy and attention grabbing album. 'Outcasts Of Eden' is a menacingly heavy foot stomp. The heaviest song heard so far, 'Outcasts Of Eden' is a pulsating and pummelling fury of heavy hitting power metal, yet incredibly, still retains the melodic edge that Veonity inject into all of their songs. The anthemic and sing a long style chorus that 'Outcasts Of Eden' offers, simply adds weight to an already great song. Picking up pace and racing on at full tilt, 'Sail Away' is a blistering blast of explosive power metal to get your heads banging hard. Catchy and infectious, 'Sail Away' is yet another highlight, from an album that appears to have a never ending supply of highlights. 'The Prophecy' is a one minute, atmospheric and tension building spoken word intro, narrated by Paul Logue (Eden's Curse), that leads into the scorching speed metal cacophony 'Warrior Of The North'. A top speed, full tilt, highly energetic adrenaline rush, 'Warrior Of The North' is a furious fury of classic power metal, echoing the sounds of power metal giants Rage, Powerwolf and Iron Savior. Hard rocking, heavy hitting and full of bombastic energy, 'Gates Of Hell' is a staggering romp of near power metal perfection. Catchy, infectious and addictive in equal measures, 'Gates Of Hell' is a mesmerising march of memorability, aw come on spell check for fucks sake, memorability has to be a word!

Well over halfway through the album and there is absolutely no sign of the blistering pace letting up. And it definitely isn't going to either with the galloping foot on the monitor style 'Freedom Vikings'. From the moment the album got underway my attention was grabbed, every song on offer is addictive, and has kept me hooked every step of the way. 'Lament' is a song title that indicates ballad. And yes, 'Lament' is a power ballad, that brings to a pause the exhilarating pace of the album. Lighters held high in the air will accompany 'Lament' as it swishes on by. The pause didn't last long though, as scorching pace returns in full fiery force with 'To The Gods'. Setting new land speed records as it hurtles on by 'To The Gods' is a head bang able romp of frenetic fury. 'United We Stand' is a mildly symphonic hymn like anthem, swaggering forth with pride. The sing a long style chorus will push anthemic bands such as Manowar, Sabaton and Powerwolf to the side as "united we stand, united we fall" becomes a new heavy metal chant to scream, screech and yell wherever 'United We Stand' is played. A glorious end to a glorious album of epic power metal...err, wait. What's that? The albums not over yet! A bonus track! Oh wow, and just like an encore, the heavy hitting bonus offering 'Beyond The Horizon', does close the curtain on a glorious album of epic power metal, memorable for all the right reasons and an absolute pleasure to have head banged, foot stomped and sung a long too.

Overall, a glorious romp of superb power metal, chock full of melodic infused and very infectious songs, all served up over an incredible seventy six minutes play time.
