Can't Stop E.P. |
||||||
The Dutch Duke are a heavy metal band from the Netherlands formed in 2014 with their debut release, the four song E.P. 'Saevus Umbra' released in 2015. The bands sophomore release is the five song E.P. 'Can't Stop', which was released in spring 2019.
I can't quite believe it's been four years since The Dutch Duke hurtled into my line of sight with their ferocious debut offering, the four song E.P. 'Saevus Umbra'. Their blend of ferocious punk tinged no frills heavy metal owed much to the sound of UK legends Motorhead. The Dutch metallers were on fine form, scorching their way through all four songs in less than thirteen minutes!
And now The Dutch Duke are back with a second E.P. 'Can't Stop', featuring four new songs and a live recording. The band have lost none of their raw energy or aggression, the new E.P. exploding into life with the blistering 'Can't Stop'. With less of a punk influence and more of a heavy metal one, 'Can't Stop' thunders on at pace, shuddering the ground as it scurries on by. Picking up the pace and galloping on at full tilt, 'Killing The Rest Of Us' is high velocity and intense heavy metal. Listen close and you can hear the bands Motorhead influence, listen closer and your ears will bleed, such is the brutal onslaught that 'Killing The Rest Of Us' delivers.
'Sorrow' follows the same path as the previous song, but at a higher velocity and with even more energy. Violent and vigorous head banging will ensue as 'Sorrow' hurtles on at break neck speed. 'Tear Me Down' is the fastest song on offer, and is delivered at a phenomenal pace, with hints of American heavy metal icons Twisted Sister woven into the mix. A lightning quick romp, 'Tear Me Down' is a fierce foot on the monitor style gallop. The final song on offer, is a blistering version of 'No Mercy', from the bands first E.P. and was recorded live at Cult-Art-Shop, Nijverdal on 27th January 2017, showcasing the bands ferocity in a live arena.
Overall, a thundering, shuddering and galloping rampage of ferocious heavy metal, aggression fuelled, intense and full of bombastic energy.
