Saevus Umbra E.P.

The Dutch Duke are a heavy metal band from the Netherlands formed in 2014 with their debut release, the four song E.P. 'Saevus Umbra' released in 2015.

The title song opens the E.P. with an eerie intro setting a spooky scene, before bang! And it's off and running, punk influenced and sounding like UK iconic legends Motorhead. Frenetic and ferocious, 'Saevus Umbra' rattles its way mercilessly through sharp edged guitars and a rhythm that would make Lemmy (frontman for Motorhead) proud. 'Blooded Sights' is more of the same energetic, no frills heavy metal that will have the crowd at a live gig jumping up and down like crazed lunatics.

Rampant and thunderous, 'No Mercy' shows no mercy with its blistering pace, arrogant undertones and in your face attitude. Raw and brutal, this collection of four songs is a mouth watering appetiser for more to come. The final song 'Dracula' is played at a breath taking pace, and will leave you wanting more...of which unfortunately there isn't, so hit the "replay" button and listen to the E.P. over again, and again and again . . .

Overall, echoing the no frills, energetic, pink tinged heavy metal made popular by Motorhead, The Dutch Duke bring fresh life to the table and up the ante.
