Stone Broken are a melodic hard rock band from the UK formed in 2013 with their debut release, 'The Crow Flies' E.P. released in 2014. Their first full length album, 'All In Time' was released in 2016, with their sophomore album 'Ain't Always Easy' released in 2018.
Just two years after their debut full length album, British hard rockers Stone Broken are back with their sophomore album, brimming with infectious heavy rock. 'Ain't Always Easy' gets underway with the barnstorming 'Worth Fighting For'. Mighty riffage and full of thunder, 'Worth Fighting For' is melodic hard rock at its most catchy. And for the next forty five minutes, twelve songs captivate and conquer every sense within you, as party rock anthems and power ballads take front and centre. The mood turns a tad mellow as 'Let Me See It All' struts into view and majestically strolls on its way. A superb buzz guitar sound echoes British rock/metal from the glory days of its evolution during the eighties. The album moves on with the heavy hitting 'Heartbeat Away'. With a title more inclined to be a ballad offering, 'Heartbeat Away' is no where near ballad territory, planting both feet firmly in the heavy rock genre as it catchily infects you with its memorable chorus break. 'Home' definitely fits the ballad style of rock. Raise your lighters high and sway from side to side as the emotion fuelled 'Home' wanders on.
'Follow Me' is the only one of the twelve songs on offer to exceed four minutes play time, stretching to four and a half minutes in length. And what a four and a half minutes 'Follow Me' is... High on energy and bombast, 'Follow Me' is a rampant romp of catchy riffs and is a thunderous slice of hard rock. Heads will be nodding hard and feet tapping harder, in recognition of some cracking melodic rock from a band very much at the top of their game. 'I Believe' is one of the heaviest hitting songs on offer and is not subtle in any way shape or form as it stomps majestically on. Stone Broken are a British band, delivering British rock, but tucked within 'I Believe' I detect a little hint of eighties American hard rock too, more specifically 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' era Poison. The hard rocking doesn't show any signs of easing up as the album progresses with the mighty thunder that masquerades as 'Doesn't Matter'. Buzzing guitars add a touch of swagger to the highly energetic and bombastic foray of hard rock, planting huge smiles on the faces of fans everywhere.
The album enters power ballad territory with the passion filled 'Anyone'. Much too heavy for lighters or swaying, 'Anyone' is mellow enough to slow dance to after a romantic evening with your loved one, "I'll do anything every single night, if I can be inside your arms" about sums it all up really. The heaviest hitting and hardest foot stomping song on offer, 'Just A Memory' is more hustle and bustle than anything else on the album. Add a catchy sing a long style chorus and 'Just A Memory' is memorable for all the right reasons. 'Other Side Of Me' ups the tempo and is an energetic fury as it romps on. Heavy rock has never sounded so good as Stone Broken unleash their big guns and blaze a scorching trail of rock. 'Other Side Of Me' is one of the most appealing songs on offer and bridges the gap between party, and driving anthems. Hard to believe that the final song is just around the corner, confirming the albums infectious intensity as time means nothing when the music is this good. The albums final hurrah is a swaggering blues rock come American hard rock offering. 'The Only Thing I Need' head nods its way on, tapping its feet too, bringing the curtain down on a catchy and infectious journey of British hard rock.
Overall, an energetic and infectious slice of hard rock, addictive and catchy, appealing to fans of both hard rock and heavy rock.
