Lots Of Eyes

NACARBIDE are a female fronted heavy metal band from Thailand formed in 2016, releasing their debut album in 2017.

Adopting the legendary NWOBHM sound, NACARBIDE set an atmospheric feel as 'Descent' rumbles in, launching the album proper with the "foot on the monitor" style galloping 'Edge Of Life'. Romping along at a furious pace, 'Edge Of Life' is an immediate, head bangingly addictive song. Female vocals scream and screech over blistering guitars and thunderous rhythms. The NWOBHM buzzing guitar sound is prominent as 'Lifetime' chugs into life and foot stomps on its way. More heavy rock than heavy metal, 'Lifetime' is a mid tempo, very heavy stomp. NACARBIDE are from the other side of the planet to where the NWOBHM evolution took place, but their sound is definitely from that era. 'Don't Leave Me' returns the albums blistering pace to the fore, and races on, with a slight Judas Priest feel about it. Foot stampingly infectious, 'Don't Leave Me' is much more catchy than the opening two songs.

Energy, pace and tempo all increase to a scorching pace as 'The Wind Blows' flies in and races off at break neck speed. Guitars blaze and rhythms gallop, and you'll find yourself chanting "as the wind blows" across the very catchy and sing a long style chorus. As a debut album, it is impressing with its pace and power, following the formulaic traditional heavy metal style. If you're looking for a straight up, straight forward heavy metal album to head bang to, then this one will fit the bill. 'Flyaway' increases the speed and is a furious flurry as it rockets on by. Blistering guitars push 'Flyaway' along at a frantic pace, a pace that will invoke head banging of the seriously hard nature.

The mid tempo foot stomp returns with buzzing guitars in the shape of 'Dawning'. Very heavy with a foot tappingly addictive groove, 'Dawning' injects mild flavours of blues, Southern rock and AOR. Sounding a bit like a jam session, an experiment with different sounds, 'Dawning' is a breather from the albums out and out pace. The breather continues with the more rock orientated 'Deceiving Me'. Lacking the pace from the early stages of the album, 'Deceiving Me' gently rocks its way on. The album comes to an end with the title song 'Lots Of Eyes', ramping up the pace and flying along. The blistering speed of the opening songs returns in superb fashion as 'Lots Of Eyes' romps along, catchy and infectious and head bangingly addictive. A very good end to a good album of NWOBHM inspired heavy metal.

Overall, a fast and furious romp of traditional sounding heavy metal with a huge NWOBHM influence.
