Peek Through The Pines |

My Regime are a thrash metal band from Sweden formed in 2016, who released their debut album 'Dogmas', in the same year. 2017 saw the release of the bands second album 'Deranged Patterns', with their third album 'Peek Through The Pines', a 2018 release.
Sweden, a country more well known for hard rock and power metal, often throws out "different from the norm" bands. And in the shape of the feisty My Regime, thrash metal is the most recent offering. My Regime are not quite four years old, yet have just released their third album... No slouches when it comes to studio time, the quantity of output from this fiery four piece is admirable, with the quality, of the highest standard. 'Peek Through The Pines' is a ferocious and very heavy foot stomp of mid to high tempo thrash, fuelled by a high level of attitude and aggression. Dark themes run throughout the album, matched by the dark and demonic sound of every song, so here's a pre listen warning... "if you suffer from a weak constitution or are scared easily, you may wanna listen from a safe hiding place, for example, behind your sofa". Off to a heavy hitting start, 'Peek Through The Pines' launches forth with err, 'Peek Through The Pines', a thundering, shuddering, and ferocious foray. Razor sharp guitars viciously cut and thrust their way forward, aggression filled vocals lacerate the airways, and My Regime are savages as they slay forth with their own unique blend of thrash.
If you've never heard My Regime before, firstly, why the fucking hell not? And secondly, you're in for a terrifying ride as every song will slaughter your senses with a heaviness heavier than the heaviest thing you can think of! 'Too Many Faces' is a monstrous mid tempo stomp that will crush buildings as it strides forcibly on, taking absolutely no prisoners as it conquers the lands it walks upon. The band doesn't fit into either the American "big 4" or the Teutonic "big 4" soundscape, generating a sound of their very own. The new album doesn't have any high velocity, high speed thrash metal, but what it does have, is a thundering, foot stomping, mid tempo, full of menacing rampages. 'A New Moon' increases the heaviness and resonates with anger, attitude and fear. Hitting harder than rivals at a demolition derby, 'A New Moon' doesn't stop hitting until it ends. My Regime are delivering a stunning array of heavy thrash metal that excites and exhilarates the senses, sending pulse rates through the roof! The fastest song on offer, 'Underneath My Skin', still doesn't hit top gear as it scurries on by. A canter rather than a gallop, 'Underneath My Skin' has a terrifying mid song breakdown that is gonna terrify those listeners who are cowering in their safe place.
'You Will Never Understand' has the title of a statement I have used for many years whenever I have been asked "why do you love metal so much"... And it's true, so many people will never understand why metal touches the soul like no other style of music does. As for the song, 'You Will Never Understand' is a menacing, frightening and quite frankly, horrifying foot stomp of such force that it may just make your ears bleed. And, at over seven minutes in length, they'll be bleeding for some time yet! Just how fucking heavy can this album get? Much, is the very short and simple answer... 'Black Rivers' is a ferocious explosion of fire and brimstone, steam rolling over anything, or anyone foolish enough, to get in its way. Now, did I say there was no high velocity offerings on the album? " I Lied " (spoken in the menacing Arnold Schwarzenegger tone from his 1985 movie Commando). 'Deceit' lifts the pace to a ferocious speed, galloping on like a champion race horse in the final furlong. Violent and vigorous is the accompanying style of head banging that will occur as 'Deceit' rockets on to its conclusion. Sadly, the album has reached its final song, but what a song... 'Unglue My Soul' is a glorious nine minute epic, weaving its way around every corner of the thrash metal genre, delivering an aggressive and very heavy hitting experience. As brutal as two heavyweight champion boxers slugging it out for all twelve rounds of their championship bout, 'Unglue My Soul' will leave you battered and bruised, but very happy. Oh, and by the way, for anyone still hiding, it's safe to come out now, the album has finished, ha ha, " I Lied " - the replay button has just been pushed.............
Overall, heavy hitting thrash metal with a menacing undertone, My Regime deliver a terrifying yet exhilarating, pulse racing forty five minute masterpiece.
