Deranged Patterns

My Regime are a thrash metal band from Sweden formed in 2016, who released their debut album in the same year. The bands follow up album, 'Deranged Patterns' was released in 2017.

The effects laden intro 'Deranged Patterns' is a crescendo building two minute atmospheric intro, leading into the brutal rampage of 'Time Slipping Out Of Tune'. Sounding like eighties era Slayer, My Regime are a full on, in your face, thrash metal machine that will crush skulls and break bones wherever they play. 'Time Slipping Out Of Tune' is raucous and raw, delivering a brutal slab of thrash. Strap yourselves in guys and gals, this is gonna be one helluva ride... 'Rays Of Grey' continues the aural pummelling, very heavy and hard hitting, cutting a vicious path through the airways. 'Rays Of Grey' has some very heavy riffing, so heavy that lesser mortals will need aspirin. A screaming guitar solo to boot and boy this is great stuff. Can My Regime continue this brutal heaviness for an entire album? 'Off To War' would suggest yes. A thundering volcano of savagery, 'Off To War' is bristling with heavy riffage and thunderous drums. It has been a long time since I've heard such a heavy, brutal and savage album that has a melodic undertone and an infectious nature...this has got me hooked.

'I Am' slides gently in on the back of a mellow guitar intro and then takes off at break neck speed. Furious head banging will accompany 'I Am' and I'm hoping you have some very good neck muscles as the violent nature of the song will ensure violent head banging. The vocal delivery across the entire album is throaty with a mild rasp, perfectly suited to this type of thrash metal. My Regime have taken elements from both the American and German thrash metal genres, with the result bloody awesome. 'The Sound Of Dying Dreams' is heavily guitar led with the sound a definite nod towards the classic buzz style of the evolutionary NWOBHM. 'The Sound Of Dying Dreams' is a more heavy metal song than a thrash metal one, but is still very heavy and brutal. Increasing the energy and intensity levels, 'Nervous Fort' is all speed and blistering pace as it rages from riff to riff, rumbling and stumbling along. 'Nervous Fort' is the one song off this album that could go shoulder to shoulder with anything Slayer produced during the eighties thrash evolution. My Regime have certainly re-ignited my excitement for this type of thrash...

Crikey, the pace just got even quicker...'The Smiling Dog' is faster and more furious than anything that has gone before and if your neck isn't hurting, you ain't head banging hard enough. The mid section breakdown is superb, the screaming guitar solo a delight and 'The Smiling Dog' is a definite highlight of the album. Chain saw buzzing style guitars greet the listener as 'The Cage' storms into life and jack hammers its way forward. A major influence for My Regime is Slayer and at times their brilliant recreation of the eighties Slayer sound is magnificent, but remember, My Regime are not a Slayer tribute band...they are a very good thrash metal band that are kicking very hard and making a huge name for themselves in the worldwide metal arena. The passion and energy oozing from every song on the album is top notch and 'Deranged Patterns' (the album) is gonna make a major impact across the globe. A short instrumental 'Silver' heralds the final song on the album, the six minutes plus 'Surreal Reality'. Broadening their musical horizons, 'Surreal Reality' blends in heavy metal and a touch of the melodic, resulting in a heavy, mid tempo stomp. This second album by My Regime is a belter and will stand tall and proud for many years to come and will also be a strong contender for 2017 Album Of The Year.

Overall, a breath taking savage barrage of furious riffage and thundering rhythms that is so very heavy, it will pound and pummel the senses from start to finish.
