Walk Through The Fire

Knightmare are a metal & rock band from the USA formed in 2010 who released their debut album 'Damned And Forsaken' in 2012. The bands second album 'Wolves Of Retribution' was released in 2016. with their third offering 'Walk Through The Fire', a 2018 release.

The third album from Knightmare is a rollercoaster ride from heavy metal through to hard rock. Opening with the rampantly raucous title song 'Walk Through The Fire', the album is out of the blocks at a furious pace. Head bangingly addictive, 'Walk Through The Fire' (the song) is a blistering slice of fast paced heavy metal. There are only six songs on offer across thirty eight minutes, a little low on numbers but high on energy. Nodding its head toward the classic sound of the NWOBHM, 'Banshee' is catchy "foot on the monitor" style heavy metal. An opening double salvo of galloping heavy metal is followed by the more melodic and mid tempo 'Supermoon'.

Stepping over boundaries, 'Supermoon' steps into the glory and epic genres of metal, with a majestic anthemic feel too. Much more of a foot stomp than a gallop, 'Supermoon' plods on relentlessly. Knightmare mixes elements of hard rock, AOR and a slight touch of the blues, as 'Spirits' strides on at a mid to high tempo. At over halfway through, the album has noticeably shifted from metal to rock, with the blistering opening double salvo a far cry from how the album sounds now at it moves forward to song number five.

'Lake Of Rage' brings an altogether different sound to the album, harking back to the seventies style of rock, when the genre was still evolving. A lazy stroll of a song, 'Lake Of Rage' moves the album on towards the final song. At over seven minutes in length, 'War Song' is the longest song on offer and is also the slowest paced. Continuing with the seventies rock feel, 'War Song' ambles along, hinting at the anthemic as it walks on by.

Overall, a varied journey from heavy metal to hard rock, 'Walk Through The Fire' will appeal equally to metal and rock fans.
