Intuition E.P. |
||||||
Jaded Heart are an internationally based melodic power metal band formed in 1994 releasing fifteen studio albums across a thirty year career - the band sort of celebrating this milestone by releasing the four song E.P. 'Intuition'.
Emerging in 2024, the E.P. features two cover songs, one live and one new song, the band commenting "we're incredibly proud of 'Intuition' and had a fantastic time producing it". The new song 'Intuition' opens the E.P. featuring the bands very good friend Henrik Larsson on piano, Jaded Heart shuddering the ground with a thundering gallop of heavy, power metal - the infectious level sky high and the "turn a head ability" (sounds an okay phrase to me) simply out of this world!
The first cover song, is 'Dance The Night Away' by Swedish hard rock legends Europe from the bands 1984 'Wings Of Tomorrow' album - and blow me down with the proverbial feather, but Jaded Heart have got this one spot on! The originals pace and power is matched perfectly, the energy oozing from Jaded Heart's 'Dance The Night Away' is phenomenal! And a warm fuzzy feeling descends upon me as I realise I was just thirteen years old when I first heard Europe back in err, ahem, 1983 when the band released their self titled debut album, and 'Seven Doors Hotel' took my breath away! The second cover is 'Square Hammer' - the billboard number one "mainstream rock" single by Swedish rock sensation Ghost. Taken from the bands 2016 E.P. 'Popestar', Jaded Heart have beefed it up a bit, and maybe metalized a little too, Jaded Heart's 'Square Hammer' sounding like it could well be one of the bands very own compositions.
The fourth and final song on offer 'Love Is A Killer' - from the bands 2009 album 'Perfect Insanity' - is a live version recorded in Hamburg during November 2022, and shows just how energetic and fiery the band are in a live arena.
Overall, a sparkling four song E.P. that shows different sides to Jaded Heart - in the studio, live on stage and as a cover band.
