Delirium

Hazzerd are a thrash metal band from Canada formed in 2013, originally forming in 2012 under the name Forsaken, changing it to Hazzard X the following year, to eventually become Hazzerd, and releasing their 'Victimize The Innocent' E.P. in 2014. Line-up changes dogged the band for a couple of years, stabilising in 2017, with the band recording and releasing their full length debut album 'Misleading Evil'. Touring and performing with bands such as Striker, Vicious Rumors and Grim Reaper, brought the bands brutal yet melodic, thrash metal style to the masses, and in 2020 the band are set to unleash their second album 'Delirium'...

...a prophetic title, as it aptly sums up how you will be feeling after listening to the ten songs on offer. Coming from the same country that gave the world Exciter, Annihilator, Terrifier and Wreck-Defy, comes another thrash metal band - Hazzerd. Delivering fast paced and (sometimes) brutal thrash, Hazzerd open their second album with 'Sacrifice Them (In The Name Of God)', a hustling and bustling slice of thrash to get those heads moving. And heads will move much faster as 'A Tormented Reality' comes alive and sets a blistering pace as it feverishly runs amok. The heaviness, the guitars, the vocals, all clear in the mix - great production that gives the listener a "wow" listening experience. And wow, 'Sanctuary For The Mad' takes the pace even higher, flying with a purpose and intent. Upfront and intense 'Sanctuary For The Mad' reminds me a little of American thrash metal giants Anthrax.

Introducing the highly addictive and infectious melodic style of thrash, 'Victim Of A Desperate Mind' is over six minutes of gloriously enjoyable thrash. Hazzerd proved with debut album 'Misleading Evil', that they are adept at fast paced, brutal, and melodic styles of thrash - and with their second effort are further enforcing their adeptness. 'Call Of The Void' also chimes in at over six minutes in length, and is a stunning instrumental that swings this way and that, meandering through every corner of the thrash metal genre. On its journey 'Call Of The Void' also takes in the scenery of the heavy metal and heavy rock genres. This instrumental at over six minutes in length does not lose my interest for one second - the varying styles simply intoxicating. Scorching pace sees 'Dead In The Shed' rocket along at high velocity, bringing a touch of the punk brashness to the album. 'Dead In The Shed' is the fastest song on the album so far, igniting the senses with a feverish passion. A good album has just become a very good one...

...that is just getting better and better. The brutality level is raised sky high with the introduction of the fast paced and aggressive 'Illuminated Truth'. Break neck pace and a thundering rhythm gives 'Illuminated Truth' an intense feel and will have heads nodding back and forth at an extreme rate. A mellowness takes over as 'Waking Nightmare' comes alive and progresses to become a very heavy, very fast, and intense raucous romp. The levels of savagery and brutality are at their highest, as 'Waking Nightmare' takes no prisoners with its ferocious attitude. And to a third six minutes plus offering - Hazzerd loving the longer epics. 'The Decline' is a thundering slab of muscular thrash, all big and mighty with attitude and aggression. A very good album has now become an excellent one, Hazzerd continuing their meteoric rise towards the top of the world wide thrash metal scene. The album ends with 'The End (Outro)', a mellow instrumental passage that acts as a warm down.

Overall, fast, furious and aggressive thrash metal played with passion and a melodic edge that gives it a highly infectious aura.
