Frozen Land

Frozen Land are a symphonic power metal band from Finland, forming in 2017 and releasing the demo 'Loser's Game' later the same year. The bands self titled debut album was released in 2018.

If you're looking for an electrifying, fast paced album to blow away those cobwebs, then the debut offering from Finnish power metal band Frozen Land will do the trick. The opening salvo 'Loser's Game' explodes into immediate life and zooms along at a lightning pace. Heads will bang vigorously as 'Loser's Game' slays an unrelenting passage across the land, blazing a trail of fire, leaving smoke and scorch marks in its wake. What an opening... and what a second song too... 'Delusions Of Grandeur' harks back to the eighties power metal sound pioneered by bands such as Running Wild and Helloween. Raucous riffs and rampant rhythms push 'Delusions Of Grandeur' along at a thunderously high tempo, with energy levels right off the scale. A breathless opening double blast is followed by the thundering 'The Fall'. Heavy hitting and high kicking, 'The Fall' is catchy and infectious melodic power metal. The anthemic sing a long style chorus just adds more awesomeness to an already awesome song. Mid tempo and thunderous, 'Underworld (Manala)' is a foot stomper of the tallest order. Plenty of atmosphere is created by the massive riffage, with a haunting, almost chilling chorus break.

Lightning pace makes a welcome return to the album in the monumental shape of 'The Rising'. Flying as fast as a jet fighter off to war, 'The Rising' is a savage barrage of furious power metal, explosive and catchy and oh so bloody head bangingly addictive. Epic and glorious, Sabaton and Powerwolf styled, 'Unsung Heroes' is an anthemic and highly energised slab of meaty power metal. Heads are gonna be nodding hard to this one. 'Orgy Of Enlightenment' follows a similar path set by the previous song, with just the one difference... it's much heavier. 'Orgy Of Enlightenment' will have heads banging vigorously as it storms on a mid to high tempo pace, blazing a trail of destruction as it strides on by.

Raucous and full of blistering pace, 'Mask Of The Youth' picks up speed and flies along at the speed of light, well almost! 'Mask Of The Youth' delivers the signature sound of Frozen Land, fast paced melodic symphonic power metal, infectious and catchy, and a bloody great listen. European style power metal has a sound of its own and has stood head and shoulders above every other countries power metal genre for over thirty years, and with the likes of Frozen Land emerging, it's gonna stay there for the next thirty years too. As seems the norm for modern day power metal albums though, 'I Would' is the obligatory ballad. Delivered with a high level of emotion, 'I Would' is a lighters in the air moment, one hundred miles away from the sound of the rest of the album. The final song on the album is a cover of 'Angels Crying' by Swedish singer/songwriter E-Type, from his 1998 album 'Last Man Standing'. This version is much more beefy than the original, much heavier and a little quicker too, and amazingly doesn't sound out of place when compared to both the rest of the album and, the signature sound of Frozen Land.

Overall, fast paced and quick symphonic power metal, passionate and full of infectiousness to keep your head banging from start to finish.
