Fatal Virus E.P. |
||||||
Eternal Judgment are a thrash metal band from Canada formed in 2008, releasing their 'Time For Vengeance' demo in 2009, and the bands debut E.P. 'Fatal Virus' in 2012.
The E.P. consists of five songs across an impressive thirty minutes, 'Fatal Virus' getting underway with the title song 'Fatal Virus' - the band mixing together thrash and a little speed metal. With brutal guitar riffing bludgeoning the senses, 'Fatal Virus' (the song) is reminiscent of the (early) good old days of thrash, and in particular 'Bonded By Blood' era Exodus.
'Powerdrive' is a mammoth seven minutes in length - and still not the longest song on offer! More on that one later, for 'Powerdrive' opens with some blistering guitar work and a darker, more moody feel, settling into a thrash come traditional heavy metal swagger as it gets going proper. And right here, is where Eternal Judgment are opening their music up to a much wider audience than just thrashers!
And continuing the impressive start to their career, the Canadian outfit bring to the fore a little touch of pioneering thrash metallers Megadeth, as 'War Planet...Prisoners Of Hell' thunders along at an aggressive mid tempo pace. And then with a phenomenal turn of speed, 'Kill To Survive' hurtles off at high velocity, providing the head bangers of the world a fabulous, and immensely vigorous neck muscle workout!
The honour of longest song on offer goes to the fifth and final song, 'By My Own' clocking in at nigh on ten minutes in length! An absolute monolith of thrash metal, 'By My Own' features brutality, aggression and savagery alongside mellower, almost acoustic moments, delivering the kind of swashbuckling arrangements needed to keep every listeners attentions right to the very last second!
Overall, an impressive E.P. of brutal thrash and speed metal combined with powerful vocals.
