The Eclipse Of Worlds |
||||||
Within Silence are a power metal band from Slovakia formed in 2014 releasing three albums to date - 'Gallery Of Life' (2015), 'Return From The Shadows' (2017), and 'The Eclipse Of Worlds'...
...released in 2024 featuring nine songs across fifty fast paced minutes! The bands brand of powerful and uplifting melodic power metal places them in the same area of metal territory alongside the likes of Majestica, Stratovarius and Theocracy - the Slovakian metallers pounding the ground hard as the album explodes into life with the red hot scorching pace of 'Land Of Light'. The swagger on show here is classic sounding European power metal but with added doses of elegance and divine power, Within Silence anything but silent across the albums overly energetic opening gambit! And did I just say overly energetic! For 'Divine Power' increases the energy to new heights, the band stretching their legs to gallop forth with immense head bang ability and a glorious "foot on the monitor" mentality - 'Divine Power' keeping the hammer well and truly down! And clocking in at over seven minutes in length, the title song 'The Eclipse Of Worlds' chimes in as the longest song heard so far, roaring off at a hundred fucking miles an hour - the band going supersonic with this one! The speed is incredible, but what is more incredible - Within Silence don't lose any of the upbeat, uplifting nature of their music! What an eye and ear opening threesome to start an album with!
The infectious level so far has been off the charts, the five-piece outfit from Kosice making one hell of an impression with their third outing, 'The Treason' maintaining the breathless barrage of all out power metal! There's just no stopping the band when they're in this mood from delivering a brand of power metal that's gonna set the world on fire, a slightly more traditional metal flavour coming forth via 'The Treason', the iconic metal gallop taking centre stage as 'The Eclipse Of Worlds' (the album) carries on its merry way with a staggering hymn-like balladry courtesy of 'Storyline'. The band hit the brakes hard here, a mellow atmosphere descending upon the album as 'Storyline' strolls tall and very proud through a multitude of genres to deliver a mid tempo mid paced melodic power metal ballad with a tonne of reined in energy - energy that's let loose after just thirty seconds into 'Battle Hymn' - the band returning power metal urgency and purpose to the fore! And this right here, is the classic sound of European power metal, Within Silence taking on board everything the greats of the past gave the world, greats such as Helloween, Iron Savior and Primal Fear.
To say 'The Eclipse Of Worlds' (the album) has been one of the biggest surprises of the year, may also be one of the biggest understatements of the year, Within Silence remaining at full throttle for 'The Broken Thorn'. Exceeding speed limits and expertly avoiding the local traffic police, the band tear through 'The Broken Thorn' at the fastest pace heard on the album up to this point! The band have been cruising all album long, keeping the level of head bang ability extremely high, 'The Mist' opening with one helluva Iron Maiden feel to it! At least for the first thirty seconds or so, 'cause after that it's all Within Silence and their blistering blend of pace, power and urgency - the band dropping a few gears to turn 'The Mist' into a tempo changing, pace changing roar of power come traditional metal. 'The Eclipse Of Worlds' (the album) comes to a close with the phenomenally long 'When Worlds Collide'. Clocking in at a colossal twelve minutes in length, the band throw everything they have in their arsenal at every listener, fan and follower around the world, 'When Worlds Collide' a sensational finale to a glorious power metal gallop.
Overall, an infectious and highly energetic array of power metal with a foot to the floor mentality and tonnes of head bang ability.
