Violent Definition are a thrash metal band from Greece formed in 2008 releasing two albums to date - 'Life Sentence' (2018) and 'Progressive Obsoletion' (2024).    
             
Melding together the sounds of legendary thrash metal bands such as Razor, Slayer and Vio-Lence, the new album from Greek thrashers Violent Definition is fast and aggressive - the band, consisting of vocalist IronBeast (Mentally Defiled, Torture), guitarist Nick Psarogiannis, (ex The Crucifer), drummer Maelstrom (Mentally Defiled, Dephosphorus, Embrace Of Thorns), and bass player Chris Zoukas (Mentally Defiled, Sacral Rage) do not hold back when it comes to ferocity! The nine songs on offer hurtle by in just thirty six blistering minutes, the two minute instrumental 'Into Trepidation' building a steady but anticipation fuelled crescendo ready for the band to let all hell break loose with the supercharged speedster 'Justified Ferocity'. Flying by at over a hundred miles an hour. 'Justified Ferocity' is a savagely brutal barrage of fierce thrash to get the blood pumping of every listener, fan and follower around the world! A sensational opening salvo to grab the attentions of every thrasher on the planet, Violent Definition thunder on at a more mid tempo pace courtesy of 'The Last Grain In Your Hourglass', the heaviness here crushing everything in sight! And the mid temp thunder becomes a much higher tempo as the song progresses, the heaviness getting even heavier too! Simply unbelievable stuff from the Greek four-piece, but very addictive too!    
             
Addictive might be an understatement actually, maybe compelling is a more accurate descriptor, Violent Definition's brand of thrash an all conquering one that's had my undivided attention since the album began - and yours too as well I'd imagine, 'Experimental Failure' setting off at high velocity to wreak havoc on every listener everywhere! I tell ya readers, bones are gonna start to break as 'Progressive Obsoletion' asserts its ferocity on a worldwide audience, 'Experimental Failure' just the latest hammer blow to shudder the ground and send buildings crumbling to rubble! And taking the speed of the album to an entirely new realm, 'Deceiving The Psychopompos' is the fastest song heard so far by the proverbial country mile, the level of head bang ability shooting right through the fucking roof! Not to mention the levels of brutality, savagery and ferocity, 'Progressive Obsoletion' marching on with the title song 'Progressive Obsoletion' - and the continuation of unbroken intensity! Albeit at a slower pace than everything heard up to this point, 'Progressive Obsoletion' (the song) slaughtering the airways with absolutely zero mercy! And with an unexpected turn of speed at around two minutes in, the band go supersonic and break the sound barrier to set new land speed records!    
             
The power and pace of the album has been incredible, Violent Definition an unforgiving thrash metal tsunami that's not finished yet - not by a long chalk! 'Children Of God' maintains the ferocious nature of the album, the speed too, viciously wrecking the neck muscles of every mosher, metaller and thrasher around the world! Boy there's gonna be some sore necks in the morning, but no time to worry about that now for there's still two more songs to come - the first of which 'Reprobate Misfits' does nothing to ease the strain on the body, every muscle, tendon and sinew stretching to the rhythm of the music on show! Music which is fucking brutal, bludgeoning everyone with savage intent - this is exactly how ferocity driven thrash metal should sound like, Violent Definition quite possibly redefining the definition of "violent". And bringing 'Progressive Obsoletion' (the album) to a close, 'Trampled (By The Foot)' maintains the incredible intensity that's run right through the album from start to finish, the band delivering one final head banging opportunity for every listener, fan, follower, mosher, metaller and thrasher in all one hundred and ninety five (recognised as of 2024) countries in the world!    
             
Overall, a blistering barrage of brutality and savagery, 'Progressive Obsoletion' is a ferocity fuelled, head bang-able array of thrash metal.
