Deadly Experiments

Under Assault are a thrash metal band from Paraguay formed in 2011, releasing two albums to date - 'Underground Metal Til Death' (2016) and 'Deadly Experiments' (2024).

Featuring nine songs across a blistering twenty four ferocious minutes, 'Deadly Experiments' is a foot to the floor, rip-roaring rampage of punk tinged thrash with a shit tonne of energy! And when I say a shit tonne, I mean a fucking massive amount - the Paraguayan thrashers full of intense aggression and urgency, 'Criminal Corporation' roaring outta the blocks at a hundred miles an hour! The speed off the mark is incredible, the raw, rough, tough and gruff nature of thrash flowing out of 'Criminal Corporation' is deafening, the band bludgeoning listeners with one hell of an opening salvo! And amazingly, the band increase the speed of the album with the one minute 'V.R.S.', the level of head bang ability shooting right through the roof, Under Assault blazing a fiery trail of destruction! And the pedal remains firmly pressed to the metal as 'Masturbation' marches in with just as much pace, power and aggression as the opening brace, Under Assault brimming with a frantically frenetic brand of thrash reminiscent of American thrashers Nuclear Assault - a band famed for their raw speed and occasionally really short songs!

Which is exactly what's on offer here - three out of the nine songs on 'Deadly Experiments' clocking in at less then two minutes in length! There's just no escaping the brutal onslaught from the Paraguayan four-piece, the band storming on at full throttle with 'Destabilized Society' - and to be honest, methinks that the wide open throttle has gotten stuck, for the band are not slowing down in any way shape or form! The title song 'Deadly Experiments' enters the fray at supersonic speed, every mosh pit around the world just a sea of frenzied head banging maniacs - Under Assault literally, keeping everyone "under assault". Now whether that's GBH, ABH, or both of 'em at the same time, the band are a savage barrage of brutality and immense ferocity - 'Mandatory Suicide' dropping a gear to become the slowest song on offer! Slowest eh - try mid paced with a hint of Slayer! I say Slayer because of a couple things - the obvious one being 'Mandatory Suicide' is the title of a song by the American thrash metal legends off the bands 1988 album 'South Of Heaven'. And while I'm pretty sure it's not a direct cover, Under Assault certainly feature some of Slayer's 'Mandatory Suicide' within their own 'Mandatory Suicide' - and the turn of speed at half way is sensational!

'Muteki No Senshi Tachi' - rough translation "invincible warriors" - is a fairly apt representation of the band, "warriors" meaning Under Assault and "invincible" meaning their all conquering and overwhelming brand of thrash! And as for 'Muteki No Senshi Tachi' - the band are as devastating as they have been all album long, the red hot scorching pace burning great big fucking holes in the Earth's surface! The Paraguayan outfit really are destroyers of worlds, 'Hang Them All' providing the final nail in the coffin for all of humanity as Under Assault wipe out the entire population of the planet with a two minute burst of punk fuelled ferocity! And bringing 'Deadly Experiments' (the album) to a close, 'The Mighty Warrior' maintains the overall speed of the album, Under Assault keeping every mosh pit around the world at fever pitch - moshers, thrashers and head bangers grinning from ear to ear with unabated excitement!

Overall, a fiery, fierce and raw rampage of ferocity fuelled thrash metal with high levels of brutality and head bang ability.
