Trinity

Spitfire are a speed metal band from Germany formed in 2014 releasing three albums to date - 'Tectonical Power' (2016), 'Nightmares' (2022), and 'Trinity' (2024).

Combining speed and thrash metal, Spitfire deliver forty two full throttle minutes of phenomenal head bang ability rammed to the rafters with razor sharp guitars and face melting vocals, bringing the sound of Teutonic thrash to the fore - the kinda thrash the Teutonic Four of Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and Tankard created over forty decades ago! The bands new album features ten ferocity fuelled songs, 'Trinity' strolling into life with the one minute tension building instrumental 'Destroyer Of Worlds'...

...the band letting all hell break fucking loose with the title song 'Trinity', the sound of thrash and traditional metal combining with all out speed to instantly grab the attentions of a worldwide audience - an audience that are gonna be head banging furiously right now, 'Trinity' (the song) a rampaging roar that's surely gonna set the mosh pits on fire! Picking up the pace to rocket on faster than the previous song, 'Bending Reality' is a blistering slice of speed metal to maintain the incredible head bang ability the album began with! And on just the evidence of the albums first two songs, I reckon this level of head bang ability is here to stay! Rising higher maybe, as 'Downfall Of Existence' enters the fray with a bolder, more brash outlook and featuring a mid tempo thunder stomp! For all of the first thirty seconds or so, Spitfire resuming the high velocity, full throttle thrash metal onslaught at an even greater speed! Is there nothing that can slow this band down? It would appear not!

'Trinity' (the album) is moving faster than the speed of light - which at 186,000 miles per second is fast, very fast, the album storming on with 'Crystal Collapse', the band actually dropping a gear, but remaining at a pace that's still gonna obliterate every traditional metal band on the planet! Spitfire describe themselves as a speed metal band, and while that's not entirely incorrect, their brand of metal is more akin to thrash - ferociously fast, brutally harsh and highly head bang-able with an incredible infectious level to keep every listener, fan, follower, thrasher and metaller a hundred percent hooked! And dropping yet another gear, 'Pointless Ways' stomps hard, demolishing buildings and devastating landscapes with a Megadeth style mid tempo ferocity! And for anyone who has a headache right now caused by the bands relentless pummelling, are you really suited to metal? Maybe you should try pop music or something similar, 'cause there's no end in sight to the avalanche of aggression from the German metallers - 'Creations Of God' returning supersonic speed to the fore! Not to mention the ferocious bone breaking, neck snapping head bang ability heard earlier - boy I hope and pray everyone's neck muscles are warmed up and fully flexible, or else there's gonna be a trip to the local accident and emergency unit later!

The band may have roared through the gears a few times across the album up to this point, but the speed has always remained high, the heaviness too - 'The Endless Run' adopting an Anthrax stance as it powers on by! And I realise that at the start of my review I commented that Spitfire were boasting the sound of German thrash, and that I've proceeded to compare the bands music to two American thrash metal bands! Now that's not a mistake or indeed a faux pas, the band are exhibiting an American influence as well as their primary German one - 'Mankind Into Dust' rocketing into pole position as the fastest song on offer! And by some way too, Spitfire breaking every law of physics here to travel faster than anything on Earth - apart maybe from a metalheads head, frantically rocking back and forth in a brave attempt to keep up with the band! And bringing the album to a close, 'Death To All...' is a three minute mellow instrumental that acts as a warm down from a vigorous workout - which in a way is exactly what this album has been! Especially for the neck muscles, now where's that warm towel!

Overall, a tremendously fast paced album of thrash come speed metal, featuring sky high head bang ability.
