Heavy Metal Survivors |

Sign Of The Jackal are a female fronted heavy metal band from Italy formed in 2008, releasing three albums to date - 'Mark Of The Beast' (2013), 'Breaking The Spell' (2018), and 'Heavy Metal Survivors'...
...emerging in 2024 featuring ten new songs across forty fast paced minutes! The band combine blistering speed with the glorious sound of eighties traditional heavy metal to deliver head bang ability right off the top shelf, Sign Of The Jackal consisting of vocalist Laura "Demons Queen", guitarist Bob "Harlock666", drummer Corra "Hellblazer", bass player Frederick "Triple F" (Bullet-Proof), and guitarist Dave L. "Droz".
The album opens with the sub one minute instrumental come spoken word intro 'Eulogy Of The Survivors', setting a tension filled atmosphere that spills over into (album opener proper) 'Breaking The Spell'. Roaring off at full throttle, the level of head bang ability shoots right through the fucking roof - listeners, fans and followers all around the world vigorously rocking their heads back and forth! The band are proudly standing right in the heart of heavy metal territory, oozing a sound that was immensely prevalent during metals formative years over four decades ago! I guess that's why I love this band so much, for I was there during those formative years, listening to all of heavy metal's greats write, define, and re-define the direction of heavy metal - a direction which the Italian five-piece have wholeheartedly taken on board, as 'Buio Omega' maintains the albums recent electrifying turn of speed! The pace, power and purpose driving 'Buio Omega' is incredible, Sign Of The Jackal pressing the pedal firmly to the metal! And without breaking their stride, the band gallop forth with 'Pedal To The Metal', the sound of the legendary NWOBHM evolution coming to the fore with just a little hint of legends Judas Priest and Saxon.
The band have been red hot since 'Heavy Metal Survivors' began, Sign Of The Jackal upholding everything traditional heavy metal stands for - 'Phantasm 6' continuing the glorious all out metal attack with an increased level of heaviness and suspense! Yes readers, suspense - for 'Phantasm 6' has the kinda chill factor associated with horror films from the era of Vincent Price and Boris Karloff. And it's an instrumental too, featuring so much atmosphere even the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up, Sign Of The Jackal returning blistering speed to the fore with 'Slaves Of Hell'. Challenging the ThrustSSC (supersonic car) for the world land speed record, 'Slaves Of Hell' is an unforgiving slab of thrash fuelled heavy metal that's gonna set the mosh pits on fucking fire, every mosher around the world violently rocking their heads back and forth! I know it's been six years since the bands last album, but boy have Sign Of The Jackal got the bit between their teeth right now! Roaring louder than ever, 'Heavy Metal Survivors' marches on with 'Nightmare City', the metal gallop still very much in force! And talk about infectious, 'Nightmare City' has my grin at its widest since the album began - yours too I'll bet, the band delivering one of the best songs on offer!
The energy level pouring outta the album has been sky fucking high, and with just two more songs to come, the band keep it high - very high, 'Watch Out' turning in a performance that is faster and more aggressive than any other song heard so far! And I detect a little Warlock here too - Warlock the electrifying band fronted by the "queen of metal" Doro Pesch during the mid-eighties. And if anyone's unsure of what I mean, just take a listen to Warlock's 'Time To Die' from the bands second album 'Hellbound' (released in 1985), and you'll see (or rather hear) the pace, power and determination of both songs are sensationally similar! 'Heavy Metal Survivors' storms on with 'Shocker', the band oozing the mighty gallop once more - the gallop made famous by the likes of Iron Maiden and Saxon, and kept very much alive and well by the Italian five-piece outfit Sign Of The Jackal. And for the albums final hurrah, all fucking hell breaks loose with the fast paced '(You Better) Run For Tomorrow', the band making one last head nod to the glorious sound of eighties heavy metal, Sign Of The Jackal planting their collective feet firmly on the old school heavy monitor.
Overall, a stunning array of fast paced, foot to the floor heavy metal with immense head bang ability, Sign Of The Jackal are on fucking fire.
