Volume Six

Sacrifice are a thrash metal band from Canada forming during the early eighties at the height of the burgeoning thrash metal movement spearheaded by the American Big Four (Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer), and the German Teutonic Four (Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and Tankard) - Sacrifice helping to put Canada on the world metal map along with fellow countrymen Anvil, Exciter, Razor and Voivod. In a career spanning forty years, the band has released six albums - 'Torment In Fire' (1986), 'Forward To Termination' (1987), 'Soldiers Of Misfortune' (1990), 'Apocalypse Inside' (1993), 'The Ones I Condemn' (2009), and 'Volume Six'...

...emerging in 2025, still featuring the bands original line-up - guitarist and vocalist Rob Urbinati, guitarist Joe Rico, bass player Scott Watts, and drummer Gus Pynn. "We are very fortunate that we are all still doing this" comments Urbinati, "Sacrifice is the last of the classic thrash bands with the original line-up intact". The bands new album is a ferocity fuelled, forty fierce minutes and ten songs of fiery thrash with in your face aggression and a sky high brutality level that slaps, punches, kicks, chokes, and stabs you repeatedly - what a fucking rush! The exhilaration pouring outta 'Volume Six' is immeasurable, so prepare yourselves for a pounding like no other as the album roars into life with 'Comatose' - the band anything like "comatose"! Far from being lethargic or sleepy, Sacrifice are energetic and full of beans as 'Comatose' runs fucking riot through the heart of thrash metal territory, the band aggressive, menacing and terrifying in equal quantities!

A blistering start to 'Volume Six', the savage pace and power remains emphatically in force as 'Antidote Of Poison' thunders into view and proceeds to shudder the ground with immense force, Sacrifice stomping very heavily as every "gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in the area" is crushed flatter than a pancake! The ferocity across the albums opening brace has been devastating, the band surging forth with extreme speed courtesy of the fastest song heard so far (and bear in mind it's only been three) 'Missile'. Sacrifice are moving faster than the speed of light here, the neck muscles of every head banger around the world stretching to breaking point as heads rock back and forth in what is ultimately a vain attempt to keep up with the band - the snarling vocals perfectly suited to this style of abrasive and in your face thrash! And bringing a very menacing aura to fore, 'Underneath Millenia' is a frightening mid tempo thunder stomp to test the stability of the fucking planet! 'Cause if Sacrifice stomp any harder, Earth will find itself moving to a new orbit with the population of eight billion people having to get used to a new and dramatically different living environment!

And with a bolder, more bombastic approach, 'Your Hunger For War' marches into sight with a thunderous purpose and intent, the band progressing to slam the hammer down after forty seconds to resume the red hot scorching pace heard earlier - the ferocity rising higher than the fucking sky! Sacrifice maybe a forty year old band but boy do they have the exuberance of a much younger one, the pace, power and drive all at phenomenal levels as 'Volume Six' once again strides on faster than the speed of light - 'Incoming Mass Extinction' destroying everything in its path! And crushing anyone foolish enough to be standing in its way too, Sacrifice storming on with jaw dropping ferocity and aggression to rock everyone's head clear off their fucking shoulders! You'll need a lot more than just body armour to survive the violent onslaught from the Canadian thrashers, 'Lunar Eclipse' picking up the baton from the previous song and smacking listeners round the head with it! And without remorse too, 'Lunar Eclipse' a two minute attention grabbing instrumental.

And with the biggest burst of explosive energy the album has seen, 'Explode' is up and running in an instant, the relentless thrash metal attack just as fierce, if not fiercer than ever, 'Volume Six' a swirling tornado of tremendous power, pace and precision! And devastation too, Sacrifice hurtling through towns and cities to leave only desolation in their wake - 'Black Hashish' striding in with the meanest, moodiest mid tempo march it just might be your misfortune to ever meet! The eerie stride pattern here is sending shivers down the spines of everyone everywhere, the six and a half minute long 'Black Hashish' turning out to be the albums second instrumental! And with hypnotic powers too, as every single second keeps a tight grip on everyone's attentions - not letting 'em go right until the very end! And talking of end - 'Volume Six' comes to an end in one final burst of extraordinary speed as 'We Will Not Survive' accelerates forth with the most howling, scowling vocal performance on the album! The band are in their element here, delivering a barrage of savage, aggression fuelled thrash with immense head bang ability!

Overall, forty ferocious minutes of fierce thrash with a tonne of barbaric brutality, 'Volume Six' is head bang-able to the fucking max!
