Operation Party Destroy E.P.

Nuclearsaurus Rex are a thrash metal band from Australia formed by multi-instrumentalist Chalky Hill (Militaria, ex Deraign) in 2021, the band releasing to date two E.P.'s - 'Pegasus Ezekial' (2021) and 'Operation Party Destroy' (2024).

Now then, dinosaurs are (or were) a diverse group of reptiles that first inhabited planet Earth some two hundred million years ago, the most well known of which are probably the Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and Pterodactyl - the dinosaurs becoming extinct after an asteroid hit Earth sixty five million years ago...

...or so everyone thinks! For down under in Brisbane, Australia, dinosaurs still roam the Earth in the mighty shape of the thrash metal loving Nuclearsaurus Rex, who "in 1985 celebrated his birthday with a party and a few of his dinosaur besties - Barry the Brachioplutonium (a nuclear infected Brachiosaurus with a sneezing problem causing his snot to burn anything it touches like acid), provides his long neck as a stripper pole! Tara the Pteroreactyl (a nuclear infected Pterodactyl with a power to shower everyone in neon green toxic waste through her wingspan, and can control if it's fatal or not), provides a perfect neon night show! Tim, Tom and Ted the Triceratoxic (a three headed Triceratops each with a unique power - Tim can create force fields, Tom breathes toxic smog, and Ted can drip his saliva to heal wounds), provide plenty of drugs to the party, and monitor everyone's dosages, healing those who accidentally overdose!"

"During the party all is going well, everyone is partying so hard, having a good time, Barry accidentally sneezes from the stripper's perfume, causing a few people to die in the front row. But since everyone is so drugged up and having a wonderful time, the party rages on. It's only until Velociradioactive (a nuclear infected Velociraptor that paralyses anything he bites) and his minions Compsoatomics come to gatecrash the party since they didn't get an invite! Pegasus and his friends hate his guts since he stole their band merch, in particular Nuclearsaurus Rex's battle jacket! The four songs on 'Operation Party Destroy' E.P. covers the entire story of this party - will Nuclearsaurus Rex and his friends make it through alive to party on through the night?"

Well let's find out - the E.P. exploding into life with the fast paced 'Brachioplutonium', the level of head bang ability shooting right through the roof as the band keep the hammer down to deliver a skull crushing bone snapping opening salvo! There's also an air of "party anthem" rising high from 'Brachioplutonium' as Nuclearsaurus Rex roar from riff to riff at blistering speed - 'Pterodactyl' continuing the E.P.'s narrative with a much more crossover appeal than 'Brachioplutonium'. My first introduction to crossover thrash was many a year ago when American thrashers Mordred emerged during the eighties to include elements of rap, funk and hip hop into their root thrash metal sound - and while Aussie thrashers Nuclearsaurus Rex are very much centred in thrash metal territory, the bands sound is akin to Mordred's, but with an immense party feel largely due to the theme of the E.P.

And increasing the pace three-fold, the E.P. sets a new land speed record as 'Triceratoxic' roars outta the blocks with phenomenal intensity and a sound that gives a large nod to the Bay Area thrash metal sound of bands such as (early) Metallica and Testament - the already sky high level of head bang ability simply getting higher and higher! Fourth and final song on offer 'Velociradioactive', clocks in at seven minutes in length to make it the longest song on the E.P. - the band dropping a gear to assume the mid tempo, foot stomping fury of menacing thrash metal that Megadeth are so famous for. The change of pace is emphatic, but not as emphatic as the turn of speed after two and a half minutes, Nuclearsaurus Rex turning the heat up to maximum, scorching the earth they hurtle over!

Overall, a fast paced, four song barrage of thrilling thrash metal with immense head bang ability and enjoyment.
