Hot Mess

Nazty Gunz are a hard rock band from Chile formed in 2012 by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Nazty BlackRose and lead guitarist at the time Nixx Crimson. The band have released two albums to date - 'Sleaze 'N' Crazy' (2022) and 'Hot Mess' (2024)...

...the bands current line-up featuring lead guitarist Nick Diamond, bass player Johnny and drummer Kahn Heat alongside (sole remaining) founder BlackRose. Nazty Gunz meld hard rock with sleaze, glam and just a little heavy metal too, as the sound and spirit of the glorious eighties is kept well and truly alive by the Chilean rockers - 'Hot Mess' an energetic and raucous rollercoaster of punchy hard rock across forty minutes and ten songs, the title song 'Hot Mess' storming into sight with a shit tonne of energy and oomph! The band easily re-create the poise and pomp of eighties hard rock by bands such as Mötley Crüe, Poison and Ratt, but with a harder edge and an even harder attitude! The Chilean four-piece are standing tall and proud on the bridge between rock and metal, attracting fans of both genres into the bands soundscape, 'Hot Mess' (the song) very attractive to all rockers and metallers.

A barnstorming and quite upbeat opener is followed by the faster paced, but nonetheless infectious 'My Fire', the band burning red hot with a bombastic barrage of eye popping hard rock - the ears receiving a sensational tingle too! The albums first two songs are gonna turn the heads of every listener in the direction of Chile, Nazty Gunz firing on all cylinders as 'Hot Mess' (the album) storms on with the lively 'Night Of Temptations' - an inkling of the iconic "metal gallop" rising high in the air to waken every mosh pit in the world! For right here right now the band are metallizing their rock sound, encouraging everyone to rock their head back and forth and raise clenched fists high in the air! I grew up as a teenager during the glorious eighties when nearly every rock band came under the banner of heavy metal - even bands such as Def Leppard, Kiss and Whitesnake were classed as "metal"! Hard to believe for the modern day rocker, but that's how it was back in the day - just one genre and not the plethora of sub-genres we have today! And Nazty Gunz have a foot planted firmly in both rock and metal territory, sharing their music to a very wide audience - 'Share It' introducing a more party anthem feel to the album! Not to mention driving anthem too, 'Share It' a pounding, pulsating rocker that deserves to played loud! Now whether that's in the comfort of your own home or out on the road on a long countryside drive, it doesn't really matter as 'Share It' fits both scenarios perfectly!

The intensity of 'Hot Mess' (the album) since it began has been incredible, keeping a tight hold on every listener's attentions with absolutely no intention of letting 'em go - 'Where Is The Light?' maintaining the phenomenal dual genre attack! An attack that's as devastating as it is enjoyable - Nazty Gunz pounding the ground with an immense amount of force, setting off volcanoes, earthquakes and many other types of seismic activity! And all of it reverberating around the entire planet! More than once too - the effects of the hard rocking four-piece from Chile reaching all eight billion people in the world! And with an electrifying turn of speed, 'Dirty Hands' rockets on at full throttle to become the fastest song heard so far, the band sending everyone into overdrive with a blazing hot song that scorches the earth to leave only a barren wasteland behind! The energy and drive of 'Hot Mess' (the album) is all conquering, consuming every listener, fan, follower, rocker and metaller everywhere, the band fully fuelled and in full flight as 'Phoenix' rises high in the sky! And the metal gallop makes a return too, the level of head bang ability right here greater than anywhere else on the album, the band maintaining their incredible mix of metal and rock.

There's just no stopping the band when they're in this mood, Nazty Gunz bringing power balladry to the fore with 'Unexpected Arrow' - a hint of American rockers Poison flowing freely as every listener raises their lighters high in the air, swaying from side to side as 'Unexpected Arrows' strolls on by. A ballad is pretty much customary on a rock album, the Chilean outfit not breaking the custom, reining in all the energy of the album up to this point - letting it all back out for 'Do You Think About It', the ground shuddering under the bands feet! And the party anthem feel returns too, Nazty Gunz delivering a smile inducing, happy hard rock roar that's gonna infect everyone - and I mean everyone. No matter whether you're young, old, boy, girl, man, woman, baby, child, teenager or even a pensioner - everyone's gonna be boasting a great big fucking smile! The tenth and final song on offer 'Soldiers', is the most bombastic song on 'Hot Mess' (the album), the band accelerating to top speed to gallop forth with immense power and purpose, a little of the bolder nineties hard rock sound creeping into the bands mainly eighties soundscape.

Overall, a hard rocking, harder hitting album of rock with a steely metal edge, 'Hot Mess' is energetic, infectious and very moreish.
