Kingcrown are a power metal band from France, founded by brothers David and Joe Amore - originally as Öblivïon, releasing one album, 'Resilience' in 2018, before changing their name to Kingcrown and releasing 'A Perfect World' in 2019, 'Wake Up Call' in 2022, and third album 'Nova Atlantis' in 2024...
...featuring an unchanged line-up of guitarist Ced Legger (ex Headless Crown), bass player Seb Chabot (Galderia), and guitarist Bob Saliba (Galderia) alongside drummer David and vocalist Joe - the bands new album a towering eleven songs across forty eight minutes of all out power and pace! Kingcrown are on fucking fire, roaring outta the blocks at full throttle with (album opener) 'The Magic Stone' - the glorious guitar tone and iconic metal gallop of traditional heavy metal melting the hearts of the most diehard metalheads on the planet! And don't forget the elegant sound of European power metal too, the French five-piece boasting a sound that brings together the core essence of such legendary bands as Helloween, Primal Fear and Running Wild - 'Nova Atlantis' storming on with the title song 'Nova Atlantis', and a massive mid tempo, anthemic foot stomp! And a hymn-like swagger too, the band accelerating to top speed across the chorus break to retain the momentum gained from the electrifying opening salvo!
Across the albums first two songs, the melodious intent has been top level, hooking every listener, fan and follower to the bands new album - an album that marches on with the thunderous, all conquering heavy, power metal punch of 'Real Or Fantasy', the band heavying things up a few notches! Yet across the bridge and into the chorus break the bands melodic power metal roots shine through brighter than a thousand suns as 'Real Or Fantasy' becomes a head turner of the highest order, turning heads in the direction of the bands hometown of Nice (France). And entering the fray at over a hundred fucking miles an hour, 'Guardian Angels' introduces a level of ferocity not heard so far, Kingcrown roaring down the autoroute in excess of the speed limit! Not even the local traffic police can catch 'em - 'Letter To Myself' oozing the sound of the modern day pop come power metal phenomena of bands such as Beast In Black and Metalite, 'Letter To Myself' a barnstorming barrage of some of the finest melodic power metal you're ever likely to hear this year!
A stunning first third to the bands new album, Kingcrown remain in full flight for 'Judgement Day', cruising into sight with a tougher metal sound than any other song heard so far - the band entering heavy, power metal territory with this one! The already sky high head bang ability rockets into outer space here, the band maintaining their stunning stance right in the heart of the power metal genre with pride and passion, 'Nova Atlantis' (the album) striding forth into balladry with 'A Long Way To Valhalla' - an air of serenity descending upon the album like an elevator descends a tower block! So raise your lighters high in the air and sway from side to side as Kingcrown stroll through ballad country on their way to resume the bands regular rampaging power metal aura with 'Souls Of Travelers', the earlier pace and power restored to maximum levels! Shuddering the ground with tremendous force, 'Souls Of Travelers' shakes nearby buildings to their foundations and ultimately into ruins - the barrage of foot to the floor power metal keeping the jaws of a worldwide audience wide open!
There's just no stopping the band when they're in this mood, the album upping the elegance level to new heights with the pulsating 'Utopia Metropolis' hitting the airways with a deafening roar! Kingcrown have toured the entire power metal genre with 'Nova Atlantis' (the album), leaving no stone unturned or corner unvisited in their quest to deliver an all consuming, all conquering album of sublime power metal! Quest completed if you ask me - but not the album yet as there's still two more songs to come - the first of which 'When Stars Are Aligned', rockets off at high velocity to become the fastest song on the album! The pace here is phenomenal, the band leaving the speed of light far, far behind - the level of head bang ability higher than it's ever been too, every listener rocking their head back and forth at an extreme rate of knots! And bringing the journey known as Kingcrown's third album to an end, 'Endless Journey' returns the pop come power metal phenomena heard earlier, mixing it with mid tempo majesty and touches of anthemic thunder, the band keeping the intensity at a breath taking level.
Overall, a fast paced power metal romp with tonnes of head bang ability, a sky high infectious level and a melodious intent second to none.
