The Skies Above Eternity |
||||||
Fellowship are a power metal band from the UK formed in 2019 releasing their self titled debut E.P. in 2020, first full length album 'The Saberlight Chronicles' in 2022, and sophomore album 'The Skies Above Eternity' in 2024.
Two years ago, Fellowship not only exploded onto the UK power metal scene, but the worldwide one too - the five piece outfit from Essex roaring into the limelight with an exciting, infectious and impressive debut album, the band storming back with nine new songs across a blistering forty fast paced minutes! And when I say fast, I mean super-charged, the band reaching for the heights of British power metal stalwarts DragonForce in terms of speed and intensity - 'The Skies Above Eternity' bursting into life with 'Hold Up Your Hearts (Again)'. The silky fresh, upbeat and energetic power metal pouring outta 'Hold Up Your Hearts (Again)' is faster than the speed of fucking light, Fellowship roaring out of Harwich along the A120 with determination, purpose and immense intent! To say the opening salvo is a head turner, is likely to be one of the biggest understatements of the year - 'The Skies Above Eternity' off to an absolute flyer, 'Victim' maintaining the albums incredible start. And with more intensity and energy, Fellowship blaze a fiery trail across the land to set a new land speed record - the opening double a jaw dropping brace of all out power, pace and perfection! The band are full of youthful energy, afraid of nothing and no-one, setting their sights on rising to the upper echelons of the worldwide power metal scene - the band well on their way there already!
And as the album powers on with 'The Bitter Winds', the speed increases, Fellowship finding another gear to roar louder than ever, causing every single mosh pit in the world to go fucking wild with excitement! For the first three songs have been phenomenally head bang-able, inexplicably infectious and mightily mouth-watering - every listener everywhere drooling profusely like a Saint Bernard! The electrifying pace has been breath taking, the band keeping the hammer well and truly down with 'Dawnbreaker', the recent emergence of the pop come power metal phenomena of bands such as Battle Beast, Beast In Black and Metalite, shining through like a thousand suns, the melodic nature of the bands music reaching new and uncharted heights! The album began great and has just gotten greater, 'The Skies Above Eternity' storming into contention for Album Of The Year, 'Eternity' maintaining, no - increasing the albums overall speed once more, the band changing through the gears to turn 'Eternity' into a tempo changing pace changing, infectious melodic power metal swagger! The energy and drive since the album began has been sensational, 'The Skies Above Eternity' a feather in the Fellowship cap - the band setting the world ablaze with a fiery, fierce, foot to the floor array of pulsating power metal!
There's just no escaping the full on intensity on show here, the band storming on at full throttle with 'King Of Nothing', barriers and boundaries unable to hold the band back as Fellowship continue to break genre restraints to deliver exhilaration in abundance, the (current) song title "king of nothing" the biggest misnomer of the year, the decade even - the band turning into kings of energetic, upbeat and lively power metal with a tremendous melodious streak! Take a bow Fellowship, and accept the accolades that'll come flooding in when the world hears 'The Skies Above Eternity', the album marching on with shoulders back and head held high, the levels of majesty and elegance taking a sharp upwards trajectory as 'World End Slowly' flies in and roars off with more purpose than a jet fighter flying into a dog-fight! And I know I've said it before, but the pace and power of the album is simply breath taking - there's just no escape from the full on, foot to the floor, pedal to the metal power metal pouring outta 'The Skies Above Eternity'. Stunning stuff from the British metallers.
And with only two more songs to go, there's still no sign of a breather coming anytime soon, Fellowship remaining in top gear as 'New Hope' surges forth with just as much - if not more - energy and drive as everything heard so far! Every song on offer has been highly infectious, head bang-able and sing a long-able, with listeners, fans, followers, and ultimately concert goers instantly falling in love with the band and the album! And don't forget, Fellowship already have an album and an E.P. under their belts, so if you want a complete Fellowship collection, you'd better head on over to the bands Bandcamp site and get your copies now! 'The Skies Of Eternity' has been a sensational gallop of fast paced power metal, and a serious workout for every listener in terms of head banging, so it's with welcome relief that the band offer the two minute (album ending) mellow instrumental 'Memories On The Wind' to act as a warm down from all the frantic activity over the last forty minutes!
Overall, a sensational power metal album, 'The Skies Above Eternity' is fast paced, lively, incredibly melodic and one hundred percent head bang-able.
