Reconnect 'N Ignite |
||||||
Fate are a metal & rock band from Denmark, originally forming in 1984 releasing four albums before disbanding in 1993. Reforming a decade later to perform at the 2005 Deep Impact Festival in Germany, the band decided to reform permanently, releasing four more albums - the bands eighth and most recent 'Reconnect 'N Ignite', was released in 2024...
...featuring a line-up consisting of bass player (and founder) Peter Steincke, guitarist Torben Enevoldsen (Section A), vocalist Peer Johansson, keyboard player Patrik Tornblom (Silent Call), and drummer Soren Ryan - the bands new album eleven songs and fifty two minutes of extremely energetic heavy metal come hard rock, 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' rocketing into outer space with 'Around The Sun', and a phenomenal burst of energy that instantly takes your breath away! Fate hit hard, rock hard, and knock your bloody socks off with 'Around The Sun', everything great about the magnificent meld of metal and rock is on show here - a stunning and quite sensational (album) opener to make even the most diehard of rockers and metallers drool at the prospect of what's yet to come! And what's to come is 'Reason For Everything', a harder hitting, harder rocking song than 'Around The Sun' - the energy level rising right through the fucking roof! The band are cruising here, displaying the iconic "metal gallop" while remaining firmly on the bridge between the genres of metal and rock - the best of both worlds in my opinion!
The opening one-two has been nothing short of fabulous, whetting the appetites of every listener, fan and follower for the rest of 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' - the album roaring on with the most melodic hard rock come AOR feel you can imagine, 'This Won't Last' giving a huge nod to the glorious eighties rock scene! The involuntary tapping of feet and nodding of the head has overwhelmed me, as it will you too, Fate delivering one helluva "retro" feel and a sparkling sing a long chorus break! All together now "You don't feel the same way, you don't care at all, There's no way around it, I think you're made of stone, This won't be forever, this won't last at all, I won't be discouraged, I think you're made of stone" - fucking fantastic stuff! Fate are on fire right now, 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' powering on with the fastest song heard so far, 'I'm On Fire' pleasing every metalhead on the planet by providing the opportunity for some serious head banging! And head bang you will, for the desire to do so is all conquering, 'I'm On Fire' definitely leaning more towards metal than rock! The pace of the album is breathless, no time for a breather here as 'Running' enters the fray as the heaviest song up this point - the bands metal inclinations driving the album on with increased purpose and intent! What an album 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' has been so far, forcing its way into consideration for the Album Of The Year title.
The glorious eighties rock sound makes an emphatic return in the mighty shape of 'Hold On', the band remaining energetic and overly entertaining - a Fate concert must be one hell of an experience, bordering on the orgasmic! Sizzling with an electric charge, 'Hold On' maintains the albums infectious nature that began minute one with song one - 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' one of the years biggest surprises! And with every twist and turn, Fate continue to surprise, turning knees to jelly and hearts to beat in overdrive - 'Nowhere To Run' featuring the boldest, most bombastic sound of any song heard so far! Hitting harder than a jack hammer smashing through concrete, 'Nowhere To Run' stirs a little alternative rock into the bands root melodic hard rock come metal sound! And even after a four decade career, the Danish rockers are still pushing their musical horizons, diving into other realms of rock to deliver an exciting array of songs - 'When It's Over' returning power and pace to the fore! Involuntary foot tapping and head nodding make an immediate return too, 'When It's Over' a galloping slice of exquisite metal and rock, Fate resuming their proud stance on the bridge between the genres of heavy metal and hard rock.
Just where do Fate get all their energy from? It's incredible, the band storming on at pace with the breath taking 'Children Of A Lesser God' - the addictiveness roaring off the charts as the band once again deliver a sparkling sing a long chorus break! The eighties rock sound makes a return here too, 'Children Of A Lesser God' pleasing old, young and new fans alike - myself included, for I definitely fall into the "old" category here, old enough to remember the band first time around! Fuck - am I really that old? Afraid so! And with only two songs remaining, the album remains fully charged, oozing energy in abundance as 'Feel The Burn' bursts into life with incredible oomph! The band must have had a blast in the studio while recording 'Reconnect 'N Ignite', the enjoyment can be heard in every song on offer - the smiles on everybody's faces must surely have been a mile wide! As they are on the faces of every listener, fan, follower, rocker and metaller, the band bringing a sensational album to a close with the power metal driven 'Under The Gun', the level of head bang ability reaching its highest point! 'Reconnect 'N Ignite' has been a belter of an album, and one that I highly recommend for every fan of the metal and rock combination! So what you all waiting for, go get your copy - now!
Overall, a barnstorming album of hard rock come heavy metal, Fate have delivered immense energy and drive with a sky high infectious level.
