El era del jaguar |
||||||
Cosmic Jaguar are a thrash metal band from Ukraine formed in 2022, releasing two albums to date - 'The Legacy Of The Aztecs' (2023) and 'El era del jaguar (2024)...
...featuring eight songs across forty fast paced and brutal minutes! The band - comprising vocalist/bassist Sergio Lunatico (Bestial Invasion, Lord Erektus, Tria Prima), guitarists Pablo "el Sicario" and Juan Maestro (Bestial Invasion), and drummer Alejo Barbaro (Lord Erektus) - hit hard with a tonne of aggression and a slight hardcore come death kinda crossover vibe - 'El era del jaguar' making its presence felt immediately with the full throttle opener 'God Of Sun And War'. The ground shakes, walls wobble and buildings crumble as Cosmic Jaguar tear through 'God Of Sun And War' at phenomenal speed, every head banger around the world frantically rocking their heads back and forth! A blistering opening salvo, the band increase the brutality ten-fold for 'Eight Lord Of Nights' - Cosmic Jaguar first dropping a gear, then pushing the accelerator hard to the floor to roar off faster than the speed of light! I tell ya readers, the head bang ability across the albums first two songs has been immense, the brutality, aggression and menace too - all top level stuff.
And at over six and a half minutes in length, 'Solar Logos' is the longest song on offer, opening with an eerie, tension fuelled first minute and a half, the band adopting a mighty mid tempo thunder stomp, building to all out pace and power as 'Solar Logos' returns the searing speed heard (and felt) across the two previous songs! Cosmic Jaguar are taking no prisoners and pulling no punches with their sophomore album, devastating landscapes to leave them desolate and barren, every listener, fan and follower taken aback by the sheer ferocity pouring outta 'El era del jaguar' - 'Ashes In Eyes' maintaining the albums unrelenting, unforgiving thrash metal onslaught! The rough, tough and gruff nature of the bands music is terrifying, Cosmic Jaguar a ferocious force of nature that just can't be tamed! Or pigeon-holed into only one genre of metal either, the band proudly standing in a multitude of genres to bludgeon listeners with a wide array of thrash, hardcore and death metal - the unabashed searing speed continuing to flow apace with 'Obsidian Mirror'. The worldwide mosh pits are surely gonna love this one, every mosher, metaller and thrasher on the planet going fucking wild to 'Obsidian Mirror' (and 'El era del jaguar' as a whole), the band creating one helluva head banging intensity!
And with a title that death metal legends Cannibal Corpse would be proud of, 'Decapitated Lunar Goddess' starts mellow, quickly building into a furore of ferocious intent and then blistering speed - Cosmic Jaguar leaning heavily into death metal territory, the band maintaining their incredible boundary breaking, border hopping journey of metal! A journey that's not yet finished as there's still two more songs to go - the first of which 'The Shorn Ones', again opens with a rare bout of mellowness, the band roughing up their music to deliver a ground shuddering so forceful, it's liable to knock planet Earth off its fucking axis! And into a new orbit too, 'The Shorn Ones' showing no mercy as it rumbles on to a conclusion - 'La Noche Triste' bringing the album to a close in a final flurry of speed and aggression along with a mighty crossover feel, Cosmic Jaguar maintaining a sky high brutality level all the way from minute one to forty!
Overall, a devastating roar of immense ferocity, 'El era del jaguar' is aggressively fast with a huge level of head bang ability.
