Your Kingdom Will Fall

Yuri Fulone are a heavy/power metal band from Brazil formed in 2010 by multi instrumentalist Yuri Fulone. The band released two E.P.'s in 2014 with their first full length album released in 2017.

The band Yuri Fulone is a one man band with Yuri playing all instruments and handling vocal duties too. The effects laden, hymn like opener 'Beyond The Gates Of Time' sets an epic atmosphere as the album gets underway properly with the huge riffing 'Thunderstorm'. The buzzing guitar sound is so reminiscent of the glorious NWOBHM, it is easy to see, or should that be hear, where the bands influence lies. Chugging relentlessly, 'Thunderstorm' is a head bangingly and foot stompingly addictive opening salvo. The title song 'Your Kingdom Will Fall' opens majestically with a foot stomping anthemic style riff, launching into a bustling rampage of aggressive rhythms with an infectious chorus break. 'I'm A Wolf' is bigger riffing than the opening song, adopting a much heavier feel too. Thumping hard, 'I'm A Wolf' is classic sounding, traditional heavy metal.

Brazil is more famed for the thrash metal style of music, but in the shape of Yuri Fulone, and other bands such as Hibria, Wild Witch and Fire Strike, Brazil is now gaining a reputation for producing bands delivering classic heavy metal. Reigning in the pace, 'After A Rainy Day' adopts a feel and vibe that the legendary band Dio created. Adding a massive touch of the melodic hard rock genre, 'After A Rainy Day' takes on the persona of a power ballad as the chorus strides by. Hustling and bustling, 'Gates Of Jerusalem' is top notch melodic heavy rock, catchy and infectious with a sing a long style chorus. The rather intriguingly and puzzling titled 'Folkloric Song From The People Of The Forgotten Lands' takes on a folk metal feel as it jigs and jumps on its way. Fusing folk music traits with melodic heavy rock Yuri Fulone has done an amazing job of sewing this one together.

Thankfully though, the traditional sound of heavy metal makes a welcome return in the weighty shape of 'War Horse'. Heavy, buzzing guitars chop as 'War Horse' romps on its way. Yuri Fulone is indeed a talented musician, playing all instruments, and taking on the responsibility of vocal duties...duties which are given over to Brazilian singer Nayara Camarozano on 'She Walks Through The Flower Fields'. Nayara is a soloist who has made her career with a repertoire ranging from classical music to electronic, often singing at events backed with an orchestra and a choir. 'She Walks Through The Flower Fields' features instruments from the classical music genre and a faultless vocal performance by Nayara, her voice soaring high, piercing the atmosphere. A musical departure from the rest of the album, 'She Walks Through The Flower Fields' does seem a little out of place... Bringing the album to a close, 'The Chosen' is a slow starter, burning with energy as it builds towards its majestic foot stomping rhythm. Anthemic and epic sounding, 'The Chosen' ends the album sounding as it began, heavily influenced by the NWOBHM and traditional heavy metal genres.

Overall, traditional heavy metal from the one man band from Brazil, Yuri Fulone has created an addictive and catchy romp of melodic hard rock/metal.
