From The Ashes Of Eden

X-tinxion are a thrash metal band from the Netherlands formed in 2003 releasing their debut E.P. in 2010 with a second E.P. in 2015. Their first full length studio album was released in 2016.

Aggressive and growling vocals smack you around the head as the album gets underway with 'Amalgamation'. Very much brutal thrash metal, yet the vocals resemble a death metal grunt. However, the bands lead singer has such a vast vocal range that she can easily switch to a clean and clear style at any time...as happens throughout 'Amalgamation'. 'Survivors Of Hell' sets a blistering pace as the guitars chop and buzz relentlessly, the death metal grunt and growl in full swing. Brutal and blunt, 'Survivors Of Hell' is a breath taking blast of aggression. Slowing the pace to a devastatingly heavy foot stomp is 'Severed From Heaven'. A stand out song on the album, the vocals range from the throaty death metal growl to aggressive, raspy and soaring. The guitars hint at the NWOBHM buzzing sound from the eighties and 'Severed From Heaven' is a must listen.

Experimenting with their sound and stretching the boundaries of the thrash metal genre, 'Genetic Sickness' is a fast paced slab of aggressive heavy metal with superb clean and clear vocals mixed with a mild throaty growl. It is hard at times to accept the fact that the vocals are all by the same singer, such is the range. The album is an intriguing and interesting listen as there is so much variety on offer. The opening riff to 'Uniformity' is steeped in the traditional British heavy metal vein, with the pace of the song straight out of the European speed metal genre. 'Uniformity' is a ferocious flurry of shredding guitars, rampant rhythms and aggressive, attitude laden vocals. Whoa, where did the pace and power go? Slamming the brakes on, 'Eden' is an acoustic led one minute and forty five seconds instrumental that allows you time to catch your breath before the rampant 'Narrow Path' takes flight. Speed and furiously frenetic, 'Narrow Path' is raw and full of brutal riffing that will have you thrashing like a mad one in the mosh pit. The growling and aggressive vocal style is back and packing not just a punch, but a drop kick too.

Chainsaw buzzing guitars introduces 'Civilised', which picks up pace and rages on with vocals that switch from the gruff and rough to the clean and clear style. As the 'From The Ashes Of Eden' has progressed, there is so much variety here, that the album will appeal to many of the metal genres, such as thrash, death, NWOBHM and traditional heavy metal...along with metalcore and grindcore too. 'Destruct & Reanimate' keeps the aggressive pace raging. Very hard hitting and brutal, the riffing alone is aggressive enough to slam you into next week! The vast vocal range is stretched to maximum, from one extreme to another. As mentioned earlier, hard to believe it is all the same singer. 'The Divine' is fast paced and intense, with an infectious buzzing guitar riff and the best clean and soaring vocal performance on the album, albeit across the chorus only. Bringing the album to a close is the aggressive 'In Progress'. Just as the album began by smacking you around the head with its violent and aggressive sound, so it ends in exactly the same way. With an obscene amount of speed, shredding and one of the widest vocal ranges I have ever heard, the debut full length album from X-tinxion will leave you gasping for breath.

Overall, aggressive thrash metal played at a furious pace, frenetic and thunderous, with growling, snarling, death metal tinged vocals.
