Evolustruction |
||||||
Woslom are a thrash metal band from Brazil formed in 1997 releasing their debut album 'Time To Rise' in 2010, and second album 'Evolustruction' in 2013.
Featuring eight songs across forty two furious minutes, Sao Paulo thrashers Woslom strike hard with their second outing, 'Evolustruction' opening with the fast paced title song 'Evolustruction', and a fire and brimstone cavalry charge that speeds up slows down - and speeds up again! The changing pace and tempo is hard to keep up with, the band setting out their stall with aggression and brutality but also melodic at the same time! 'Haunted By The Past' is a six minute barn stormer of a thrash metal song loaded with tonnes of epic guitar riffs and plenty for the head bangers of the world to wreck their necks to! Because 'Haunted By The Past' is fast - very fast, and will test your head banging skills to new limits!
And chiming in at less than half the length of 'Haunted By The Past', 'Pray To Kill' is furiously fast, reminiscent of late eighties Metallica in terms of melodic intent and an incredibly high infectious level! And with the album now in full flight, Woslom drop a gear for 'River Of Souls', adopting a more traditional heavy metal pace and feel. The band are widening their audience here, delivering a song that's gonna attract both thrashers and metallers - 'No Last Chance' bristling with power, pace and one hell of a catchy riff. I mentioned Metallica earlier, well I'm gonna mention them again, for 'No Last Chance' brings the sound of the legendary Bay Area thrashers firmly to the fore. It's all good though, for if you're gonna take on another bands sound, it might as well be one of the best bands on the planet!
With a rougher feel and jack hammer style riffing, 'New Faith' is raucous, maybe a little chaotic too, actually planting a "foot on the monitor" to parade a little traditional heavy metal once again! Woslom certainly cater for a wide audience, reaching into a couple of metal genres as 'Evolustruction' (the album) storms on with all out thunder courtesy of 'Breathless (Justice's Fall)'. Rampant and full of savage aggression, 'Breathless (Justice's Fall)' is gonna maintain the vigorous head banging workout of every listener - even the mosh pits are gonna get hot and sweaty with this one! And bringing the album to a close, 'Purgatory' opens with the mellowest passage ever heard across 'Evolustruction' (the album), building the tension to a point where the band ignite the fuse to turn 'Purgatory' into a pounding, ground shuddering stomper that's gonna destroy small towns and villages with absolute savagery.
Overall, an album full of brutal, crunching, yet catchy riffs and near growl vocals makes this a must listen for fans of fast paced, furious thrash metal.
