Voltstorm |

Voltstorm are a heavy metal band from the UK formed in 2019 by singer John Prasec and guitarist Fred Stigliano, later joined by Ivo Yordanov. The bands self titled debut album was released in 2022.
With influences ranging from Helloween to Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest to Metallica, the six song debut mini-album from British newcomers Voltstorm, is an abrasive hard hitting, yet melodic rampage of gritty heavy metal. For thirty enthralling minutes, the trio run around the heavy metal genre, keeping the listener captivated from start to finish - and to start the bands debut, is the heavy hitting 'C.O.D.'. A pulsating and high tempo march, 'C.O.D.' is a pace changing slice of metal bristling with energy. The mix of slower and faster moments is gonna keep you on your toes, for I think the rest of the album will follow suit, resulting in an engaging twisting and turning journey of not knowing which way the band will lead you next.
First single off the album 'One Life', hardens things up a little, opening with a groove metal laden riff, adopting the traditional gallop of classic heavy metal. And the chorus break has so much melodious intent it's incredible - for the groove metal laden riff of the songs opening is still there! With its majestic mid tempo stomp, 'The Game' melds metal and rock, catering for fans of both genres. At first glance Voltstorm's logo and album cover leans toward the power metal style of music, and as of three songs in the band have remained in the heavy metal one - their brand of metal a glorious mix of old school and modern day, with 'The Game' a prime example. 'Mind Control' is a meaty slab of prime beef, hitting hard yet covering you in tender hugs to soothe the rhythmic pummelling. Another weaving wanderer, 'Mind Control' changes pace at will, keeping you hooked to what has so far been an eclectic mix of metal styles.
And just when you think you have a handle on where the band are gonna go next, you're defiantly proved wrong - Voltstorm stepping up the intensity and motoring on with the fastest song heard so far 'Rebel'. Reminiscent of early nineties Judas Priest, 'Rebel' is a punchy yet melodic all guns blazing kinda tune to get the adrenaline pumping and heads banging. So raise your fists high and salute a great slice of heavy metal. The sixth and final song on offer 'No Surrender' clocks in at over six minutes in length - and has a chilling almost fear laden atmosphere as it gets underway, eventually becoming a barrelling barrage of urgency. Yet like everything that's gone before, the band surprise you with a few twists and turns as a reminder, that Voltstorm are more, much more than just another run of the mill metal band.
Overall, a cracking debut from a new band offering a blend of metal and rock melded with a touch of progressive prowess.
