Tzimani E.P. |
||||||
Tzimani are a heavy metal band from the USA formed in 2017 by the Vasquez brothers, Eddie and Sebastian. The debut release from the duo was their six song self titled E.P. in 2018. That E.P. was reissued in 2020 as a twelve song expanded edition, and includes the bands 2017 demo, as well as cover versions of songs by Dio and W.A.S.P.
Featuring a thundering "foot on the monitor" style gallop, Tzimani launch their bumper E.P. with the thirty second crescendo building instrumental 'Shift', the E.P. exploding into life with the ferocious 'Overdrive'. Full on and full tilt, 'Overdrive' is a glorious gallop of head bangingly addictive heavy metal. The pace is kept high with the energetic 'Locomotive'. Meaner and moodier than the opener, 'Locomotive' is a thundering slab of heavy hitting heavy metal. Buzzing like it's the mid eighties NWOBHM heyday, 'Final Hour' has so much of the British style of heavy metal that you'd think Tzimani was a British band! But oh no, Tzimani come from across the pond, and it just shows how much and how far the NWOBHM influenced heavy metal all over the world - even forty years after its evolution...
Electrifying pace sets 'We Are The Ones' on fire, hurtling along at full velocity, displaying all the hallmarks associated with the "foot on the monitor" style of traditional heavy metal. Hitting hard like an out of control wrecking ball, 'Get Me Out Of Here' is a heavy metal/hard rock crossover with party anthem written all over it. The most infectious and smile inducing song on offer, Tzimani are showing their versatility with this diversion on their musical direction. 'Carry On', featured on a 2019 Metal Assault Records compilation, is a thundering assault of classic heavy metal. Catchy and infectious, 'Carry On' also has one of the best guitar solos on the E.P.
The two covers included - the first of which is 'Night People' from the 1987 album 'Dream Evil' by the legend Ronnie James Dio. Tzimani do an excellent job with their version, keeping to the pace of the original, and heavying it up just a little bit. The second is 'Doctor Rockter' by W.A.S.P. off their 1992 album 'The Crimson Idol'. Again, Tzimani have not altered their version too much, the pace and feel of the original is fairly spot on. The remaining three songs on offer are the bands 2017 demo versions of 'Overdrive', 'Final Hour' and 'Get Me Out Of Here'.
Overall, a heavy hitting and thoroughly enjoyable ride of all out and foot to the floor heavy metal.
