Reasons For The Slaughter |
||||||
Tyranex are a thrash metal band from Sweden formed in 2005, releasing four albums to date - 'Extermination Has Begun' (2011), 'Unable To Tame' (2014), 'Death Roll' (2017), and 'Reasons For The Slaughter' (2023)...
...featuring nine songs in just thirty five blistering minutes! Over the years the band have just got better and better, touring across Europe and performing at many major metal festivals, festivals such as Metal Assault, Steelfest and Gelfe Metal to name just a few. Tyranex are led from the front by vocalist Linnea Landstedt, her blend of screeches, screams and howls terrifying to the max. The bands new album melds thrash and speed metal, yet the one minute opener 'Overture', builds a power metal-like crescendo of eerie sound effects and anticipation...
...for all hell to break fucking loose with the scorching speedster 'Where Light Ceases To Exist'. Delivered at a thousand miles an hour, 'Where Light Ceases To Exist' is a breath taking barrage of savagery with highly aggressive vocals and a rabid in your face attitude! The torrent of thrash metal on offer is ferocious - the opening salvo immediately turning heads all around the world. And if you've never heard Tyranex before, boy you're in for a treat! Or a shock! Either way, you'd better hold on tight - 'cause 'Rise From The Dead' hurtles into view at a blinding pace, banging heads harder than ever! I hope you've warmed up your neck muscles, 'cause this is gonna be fierce ride!
A ride that continues apace with the full on thrasher 'Full Circle', and a more fiery feel than heard previously. The speed of the album so far has been nothing short of stunning, the band fired up and firing on all cylinders - 'Full Circle' even displaying a slight melodious intent among all the savagery. I'm telling ya readers, if you're looking for a speedfest to leave you breathless, you won't far wrong with 'Reasons For The Slaughter', it's an absolute blast! Slowing things down for just a moment, the intro to 'Megalomania' is a menacing foot stomp of high anticipation - anticipation for the blistering pace to return! But surprisingly, it doesn't! Instead we have the continuation of the mighty foot stomp, and the retention of the fierce vocals from singer Landstedt. The frightening nature of 'Megalomania' may have many listeners diving for the relative safety of the space behind the sofa - especially when the song turns on its heels and resumes the tsunami of fast paced thrash! The title song 'Reasons For The Slaughter' resumes the speedfest the album began with, scorching pace that's gonna set the ground alight, burning everything to the ground with immense ferocity.
I've heard some ferocious thrash metal albums in my time - a time that stretches back over four decades to the beginning of the eighties - 'Reasons For The Slaughter' (the album) ranking very highly among them! Feisty and wrought with anger and angst, 'Pyromaniac' is a thundering in your face aural assault of pure aggression! Tyranex are an uncontrollable barrage of savagery, the band an unforgiving force of nature that simply cannot be tamed. And I for one ain't gonna try putting a leash on 'em! No fucking way - I wanna live! Without seemingly knowing what brakes are for, the album roars on with 'Do Or Die', the thrash metal roller coaster just getting faster and faster! Yes really! Faster, and fucking faster! The band are really testing the fitness limits of listeners, especially the limits of neck muscles and how far they can stretch! There's gonna be some really busy A&E departments in the morning, dealing with an above average number of sore, and severely cricked necks! The albums final hurrah 'Wipe Out' is likely to do exactly as it says - and wipe out the lesser metalheads among us! The diehard metalheads around the world will be revelling in the aggression, savagery and brutality on offer, 'Wipe Out' pummelling the senses like a jack hammer smashing its way through concrete!
Overall, a breath taking barrage of aggression fuelled thrash metal, 'Reasons For The Slaughter' is head bang-able to the max.
