Champion

Turbokill are a heavy metal band from Germany formed in 2017, releasing their self titled debut E.P. in 2018, debut album 'Vice World' in 2019, and sophomore album 'Champion' in 2024.

Founded by vocalist Stephan Dietrich (ex Alpha Tiger), Turbokill burst onto the heavy metal scene five years ago with their vivacious debut album, the band sending shockwaves rippling right through the heart of the metal community - the energy, pace and power on show was tremendous! And now the band return with a dozen more heavy hitters across a power driven fifty four minutes, the band line-up featuring founder Dietrich, guitarists Ronny Schuster and Daniel Kanzler, bass player Marco "Fox" Grunwald, and drummer Kevin Kaferstein. Of the new album, Dietrich comments "our aim is to create a modern heavy metal sound that is catchy and captivates the listener. We want our audience to have a lot of fun listening and singing along" - and I reckon the band have done just that...

...the album strolling into life with the crescendo building two minute instrumental 'Inner Calling' - an atmosphere loaded to the hilt with tension and anticipation descending upon 'Champion', the band igniting the fuse to rocket off at a hundred miles a fucking hour with the explosive opener 'A Million Ways'. Head bang-able to the max, 'A Million Ways' hurtles across heavy metal territory to plant smiles a mile wide on the faces of every listener, fan and follower around the world - Turbokill are back, and roaring louder than ever! And hitting harder, and heavier than 'A Million Ways', 'Time To Wake' is a pulsating thunderstorm of immense proportions, the band sending every mosh pit fucking wild with an energetic barrage of incredible "foot on the monitor" heavy metal.

The title song 'Champion', maintains the albums breath taking start, Turbokill devouring the airways with consummate ease, everyone everywhere falling under the bands all conquering spell - a magical spell that's gonna get you, no matter how far! I tell ya readers, the bands foot has kept the pedal firmly pressed to the metal for the albums opening threesome, the sound of highly melodious heavy metal pouring outta 'Champion' (the album) like water pours over a waterfall, Turbokill spreading their metal wings to fly faster than a bullet as 'Wings Of The Thunder Hawk' takes flight to become the (new) fastest song heard so far! The pace is phenomenal here, vigorously rocking the head of every mosher and metaller around the world, the air thick with the sensational sound of foot to the floor traditional heavy metal - 'Tear It Down' increasing the albums melodious intent to new and uncharted heights! Germany is well known around the world for producing some of the worlds greatest heavy, power, and thrash metal bands across the last forty plus years, constantly inspiring generation after generation of new bands to maintain the country's superb legacy, and in the shape of Turbokill, Germany has emphatically delivered the goods once again!

There's just no stopping this young band from Saxony, the five-piece outfit striding on with more majesty than ever, 'Go Your Way' holding its head up very high, the band stepping on the gas to roar down the autobahn at top speed! And the catchiness here is overwhelming, 'Go Your Way' the most infectious and sing a long-able song heard so far by the proverbial country mile, Turbokill sending a new set of shockwaves rippling through the metal community! The band are on fire right now, purring like a finely tuned high performance sports-car, 'Mirage Mirror' standing tall and very proud on the bridge between heavy metal and hard rock, the band attracting rockers as well as metallers to the bands all conquering soundscape! A soundscape that's bursting with terrific heavy metal, 'Power Punch' doing exactly what it says in the title! Punching with phenomenal power, 'Power Punch' is the most power metal based song on offer, the chant style chorus encouraging listeners to sing, shout and scream "heavy metal power punch" as loud as possible! What an in concert crowd sing a long that's gonna be!

And clocking in at under four minutes in length, 'Sons Of The Storm' is the shortest song on offer, delivering the albums first hustle and bustle moment, Turbokill roughing up their sound to a whole new level! Yet when the chorus break hits, methinks I just wet myself - the glorious sound of melodic power metal taking over the reins to whip up a fucking firestorm of jaw dropping dribble and drool! The band have just made me eat my words here for saying the previous song 'Power Punch' had an incredible in concert crowd sing a long - this one here is even better! And from the shortest song to the longest, 'Shine On' clocks in at six minutes in length, Turbokill bottling up all the energy and oomph of the album so far to replace it with an elegant ballad-like swagger! Yes readers that's right, a ballad-like swagger, the band inviting everyone to raise lighters high in the air and sway from side to side as the German metallers provide a welcome break from the all consuming all out heavy metal attack! And it's hard to believe that the attack is coming to an end, the final song 'Overcome' poking its head around the corner to vigorously rock the heads of every listener one more time! The pace here is phenomenal, the band changing through the gears to deliver a purpose fuelled fabulous finale to bring the house down.

Overall, a barnstorming barrage of foot to the floor, highly melodious heavy metal with immense head bang ability and an infectious level second to none.
