Prophecies Of Doom |
||||||
Thunder Lord are a heavy, speed metal band from Chile formed in 2002 releasing two demos, in 2003 and 2005. Their first full length album was released in 2008 with the follow up in 2014. The bands third album, 'Prophecies Of Doom' was released in 2016.
Speed metal fused with thrash metal and you have the sound that Thunder Lord have strived for. 'End Of Time' is gravel voiced, screaming guitars and a bombastic ball of energetic thrash metal. The exotically titled 'Leave Their Corpses To The Wolves' is a thunderous explosion of metal that is adrenaline fuelled and full of pace. The title song 'Prophecies Of Doom' is a guitar driven hard hitting slab of out and out heavy metal. 'Pillan' is a mid tempo stomp, very heavy, yet retains the same vocal style as heard on the album so far. Is the vocalist only capable of singing in one style? Well, let's carry on listening and find out...
Upping the pace is 'The Darkness's Breath' into a frenetic and blistering romp of blazing guitars. Rhythms gallop as the song lilts from one riff to another and your head will most definitely be head banging violently to this one. A doom laden opening riff gives life to 'Condemned To Death' as the song takes on a sinister, almost menacing tone as it struts it stuff. Pace and power returns in the form of 'The Blood Red Moon' and yes, the singer shows little variety in his delivery. Would have been nice to have heard him "push" himself to maybe a higher pitch, a few screams and or screeches, but sadly no. Still, this lack of variety takes nothing away from the music, it just would have been nice.
'Useless Violence' is a cacophony of speed and thrash metal. It is furious and aggressive metal played at break neck speed. 'Winds Of War' takes on the mantle of epic metal and is again played at a furious pace with galloping rhythms, however, I have to say it again, the same sounding vocal style does not do this song justice. I'm not saying the band need to change their singer, hell no, just try and vary the delivery. Closing the album is 'Metal Thunder' opening as a doom metal style song which then slowly plods its own path of heaviness.
Overall, thunderous and rampant heavy metal with elements of speed and thrash thrown in to give fans ample opportunity for head banging.
