Heavy Metal Space Cowboy |
||||||
Thundercrow are a heavy metal band from Germany formed in 2014, releasing their debut album 'Heavy Metal Space Cowboy' in 2018.
The debut album from Thundercrow bucks the German power metal trend a little, as they proceed to deliver traditional heavy metal with Stoner style vocals. The album is energetic and beefy, with a "foot on the monitor" feel from start to finish. 'Welcome To The Show' is the opening shot and is full of fire and brimstone as it explodes into life, and am guessing it has been written specifically as a concert opener. Head bangingly addictive and oh so infectious, 'Welcome To The Show' is a bombastic barrage of thunder, and will get a concert off to a barn storming start. 'I Am The Butcher' maintains the albums highly energetic and lively start, in fact, picking up the pace and running at a higher tempo, much more ballsy and punchy too. Add in a chant style chorus and 'I Am The Butcher' is surely gonna become a crowd favourite.
With its lyrical content something that German thrashers Tankard would be proud of, Thundercorw march on with the thunderous 'Alcohol Is My Religion'. Highly evident is the classic sounding guitar buzz of the NWOBHM evolution. The chorus is catchy and sing a long able, which all makes for an infectious and anthemic style romp. 'Feed The War' picks up the pace, running close to the thrash metal genre as it ferociously thunders on. A touch of aggression is also thrown in too. Title song 'Heavy Metal Space Cowboy', and it's about time that I mention the albums cover...depicting a futuristic version of the legendary American actor Clint Eastwood from his Western film roles of his early career, is a mighty mid tempo foot stomp. Hitting harder than a Chuck Norris punch, 'Heavy Metal Space Cowboy' is one of the beefiest songs on offer.
The most anthemic song titles always contain words such as metal, rock, steel, thunder, God and so forth...Thundercrow (err, an anthemic word also appears in their band name) deliver a raucous and rampant anthemic barrage with 'Rock 'N' Roll Will Never Die'. Fast paced, yet catchy and infectious, fans all around the world will be chanting "rock 'n' roll will never die" at the tops of their voices. Probably not one of the most attractive holiday destinations, 'Holidays In Hell' is a foot stomping rampant romp of raucous riffage with an aggressive, attitude laden vocal delivery. 'Holidays In Hell' is also the most catchiest song on the album, with leanings toward the heavy rock genre. Eight songs on offer across a blistering forty two minutes comes to an end with 'A Storm Will Rise', which could be viewed as a prophecy, as Thundercorw are a rising storm in the worldwide heavy metal genre. They are making their presence felt with bombastic live performances, and in the shape of their debut album, chock full of hard hitting and memorable songs, are gonna make a massive impact on a global scale.
Overall, an energetic and lively romp of heavy hitting and thunderous, anthemic style infectious songs.
