Party On! |
||||||
The Dirty Denims are a hard rock band from the Netherlands formed in 2006, releasing to date two E.P.'s - 'Going Out' (2009) and 'Wanna Be Famous' (2012), and five albums - 'High Five' (2014), 'Back With A Bang!' (2017), 'Ready, Steady, Go!' (2020), 'Raw Denim' (2021), and 'Party On!'...
...emerging in 2024 featuring ten heavy hitting hard rock 'n' rollers that are simply sensational! The energy and drive behind every song on offer is incredible, the voice of lead singer Mirjam Sieben sultry and sensual, with the overall listening experience an orgasmic one! There's just no shying away from the fact that 'Party On!' is a terrific album of roaring rock - the Dutch rockers line-up consisting of guitarist Jeroen Teunis, bass player Sebastiaan Verhoeven, and drummer Suzanne Driessen alongside singer Sieben. The band feature a massive AC/DC influence with regards to the way the band sounds - hell, I'd even go as far to say, The Dirty Denims are what AC/DC would have sounded like with a female singer! 'Party On!' explodes into life with the highly energetic title song 'Party On!', the AC/DC influence immediately apparent! And as for Siebens vocals, my knees have turned to jelly and my heart to mush, her voice as beautiful as she is! I have mentioned in other Frenzy Fire reviews, that The Gems lead singer Guernica Mancini (ex Thundermother) has one of the finest rock voices of anyone around at the moment - well I think she's just met her match in the shape of Sieben! Both singers have a terrific rasp with a tonne of grit and endless sensuality...if ever Sieben and Mancini sing a duet together, boy I think I'll have a heart attack! But I'd die a very happy man that's for sure!
The energy and drive of 'Party On!' (the song) is electrifying, The Dirty Denims a high octane, rip-roaring rock machine with limitless vim and vigour - the album storming on with even more energy and drive, courtesy of the up tempo 'Victory'. The intoxicating nature of the bands music is powerful, so powerful in fact you'll be involuntarily nodding your head and tapping your feet! And if not, why not? The only reasons I can see why not, is either you're deaf or dead - The Dirty Denims a fiery blast of unadulterated fun, planting smiles a mile fucking wide on the faces of every listener everywhere! Smiles that stretch from ear to ear (if you know what I mean), and will only stretch even wider as the Dutch outfit stride on with 'Guestlist'. Hitting harder than either of the two previous songs, 'Guestlist' shudders the ground it marches over, nearby walls and buildings crumbling to dust under the songs immense force! And talking of force, the band are a tour de force, taking absolutely no prisoners as they command the airways with an all conquering blend of happy hard rock - a blend that just won't stop, 'Party On!' (the album) moving swiftly on with the blistering 'We Won't Stop'. Chiming in as the fastest song heard so far, 'We Won't Stop' is relentless rock 'n' roll with sky high sing along ability - which kinda describes everything that's on offer here! And I know I've already mentioned it previously, but the energy and drive is incredible - whatever's powering the band has gotta be other-worldly!
And at only one third of the way through, 'Party On!' (the album) has been sensational, The Dirty Denims delivering full steam ahead rock 'n' roll to take your breath away - excuse me a moment while I find an oxygen tank! And let me be brutally honest here, it's not just the bands music that's taken my breath away - how I wish I was twenty years younger and lived in Eindhoven! And without a single pause for breath, the Dutch rockers roar on with the blues tinged 'Devil In Me', a highly seductive atmosphere oozing outta the album. And the suggestive lyrics are sung beautifully by Sieben - turning my mushy heart even more mushy! Is that even possible? Well it just happened so it must be - the band increasing the pace and power ten-fold for the red hot scorching 'Come On'. And a chance to head bang like a metalhead too, The Dirty Denims portraying the most heavy metal feel of any of the songs on offer! I tell ya readers, my whole body's been tingling with excitement since 'Party On!' (the album) began, sending pleasure wave after wave around my entire body, right from my fingers and toes to my head! The sensations felt from every song have been euphoric, pushing me to the ultimate edge, 'Hell Of A Night' entering the fray with a distinct Girlschool, Joan Jett, Rock Goddess feel to it! Now I'm talking the early eighties Girlschool, Joan Jett and Rock Goddess, when they were all fresh outta the blocks, displaying a raw energy and incredible drive that I have to say, many of their contemporaries lacked! Yet The Dirty Denims have that exact same energy and drive!
Now for me, rock (and metal) is never too loud and I'll never be too old - yet that doesn't stop me from feeling old when young bands land on my radar, the latest of which The Dirty Denims blowing my mind wider than The New Century Global Center (in China), which is considered to be the widest structure on planet Earth! Wider even than the Sydney opera house (by twenty times), Vatican City (by four times) and The Pentagon (by three times)! And still with no sign of a breather coming anytime soon, the album rocks on with the punchy 'Too Loud, Too Old'. And when I say punchy - 'Too Loud, Too Old' is the punchiest song heard so far, the band stamping the ground hard, very hard! And now I knew this moment was gonna come sooner or later, The Dirty Denims have, song by song, kept edging me nearer a state of euphoria, the sultry voice of Sieben constantly sending my excitement levels sky high! Well readers, Sieben and co. finally push me over the edge, the building sensations from the last eight songs reaching a climactic finale with song nine, 'I Want It Now!' - the most suggestive song on offer with the sexiest vocal performance! I'd love to tell you more about 'I Want It Now!', but as I'm basking in such a delightful afterglow that's left me completely speechless, I simply can't! So give me just a moment...and the final song 'Why Do I Wake Up In The Middle Of The Night?' maintaining the albums happy hard rock attitude, the band displaying an all consuming jovial nature. What an album, what a band, and what a singer!
Overall, a hard rocking rock 'n' roll roller coaster driven by an immense amount of energy, 'Party On!' is quite simply sensational.
