The Dead List E.P. |
||||||
The Dead List are a heavy metal band from the UK formed in 2022 releasing the bands self titled debut E.P. in 2024...
...featuring five, gritty groove metal led songs! The band - Mick Hatton (vocals), Leigh Gittus (guitar), Sam Wilkins (guitar), Gaz Morgan (bass), and Az Grant (drums), have been making waves since their inception with energetic live performances, appearing at this years Mearfest in Nuneaton (UK), a festival headlined by NWOBHM legends Cloven Hoof and Thunderstick. The Dead List also have an autumn tour date booked as support for British metallers Absolva - things very much on the up and up for the Staffordshire five-piece. So let's get to the bands E.P. - twenty plus minutes of abrasive thrash come groove come traditional heavy metal with razor sharp, harsh and growled vocals, 'Acid Rain' marching into sight with an aggressive foot stomping attitude that's gonna wobble walls and shake buildings! Yet among all the bands rough, tough and gruff exterior, there's one hell of a melodious interior, 'Acid Rain' pulling you into the bands soundscape like a magnet pulls iron!
Picking up pace and planting one "foot on the monitor", 'Never Apologise' features the iconic metal gallop of classic sounding, British heavy metal, and more specifically the legendary NWOBHM. Opening the bands music up to a wider audience, The Dead List hook listeners with incredible ease, everyone rocking out to a cracking song - the head bangers of the world loving this one! An opening brace from opposite sides of metal territory, The Dead List are not a band to remain in just the one spot, the E.P. continuing to offer variation with the heavy hitting and abrasive 'The Abyss', replete with a menacing, snarling vocal performance! The groove metal side of the band shines through very brightly here, 'The Abyss' stamping the ground very hard.
The first single ever released by the band 'First', is a punchy, crunchy firestorm of blazing riffs and infectious melodies, The Dead List grabbing listeners attentions very tightly and not letting go - but then, why would you wanna go anywhere else when the metal on show is this good! I bet the bands live performance at Mearfest was electric, 'The Dead List' E.P. coming to a close with the longest song on offer 'Voices'. Not to mention the most aggressive too, the band turning the level of everything up to maximum - the searing vocals savage enough to obliterate towns and cities! But yet again The Dead List weave an intricate melodious intent into the songs framework, simmering just beneath the choppy waves on the surface.
Overall, a fierce five song E.P. featuring a thundering groove metal onslaught with a high infectious level and tonnes of head bang ability.
