Tentation

Tentation are a heavy metal band from France formed in 2012 releasing their debut album in 2015.

'Bruixes' opens this mini album with Tentation singing in their native tongue. Okay, I cannot understand a single word, but that does not stop my head banging and my feet stomping at the pace and power of the music. Blistering guitars and galloping rhythms, this is good heavy metal. The pace quickens with 'L'Epreuve du Sang', which positively rockets by in a flash. This is more than just European power metal, this is good old classic heavy metal. Screaming guitar solo, top notch clean and clear vocals, if it wasn't for the fact that the singer is singing in French you would believe that this was a British band. Ahh, the cracking European power metal riff welcomes 'Valhalla' to the airwaves. A more melodic approach to the metal sees 'Valhalla' stride majestically on its way, heavy enough to keep your head nodding. This is the pace of the likes of Judas Priest and Saxon.

Upping the tempo 'Temps de Priere' is a rampaging journey of screaming guitars and galloping rhythms. This may only be a six song mini album, but it hits hard and offers so much promise for much more to come. 'Temps de Priere' has, during the mid section a magnificent NWOBHM guitar style riff...worth listening just for that. With more heaviness 'Spectre de Lumiere' rumbles in and chugs along at a relentless pace. The final song on the album is a cover version of 'Double Bang' by French heavy metal band H-Bomb, off their 1984 album 'Attaque'. Keeping close to the original sound, Tentation pull off this cover in spectacular style.

Overall, galloping and thunderous heavy metal with clean and clear vocals, superb guitar work and a definite reason to head bang.
