Tapper & Bridge E.P. |
||||||
Tapper & Bridge are a melodic rock band from the UK formed in 2017 by Lee Tapper (guitars, bass, keyboards) and Darran Bridge (vocals, drums, keyboards). The duo are currently putting together their debut album, with an unconfirmed release date, and have just released a self titled four song E.P.
All the songs featured on the E.P. come floating out of the eighties inspired melodic rock genre - a genre occupied and owned by the likes of Foreigner, Journey, Boston, Kansas, and all the other pioneering seventies/eighties rock icons. During this era of development for rock music, the sound became big and bombastic with catchy and sing a long choruses - earning the monikers "stadium rock" and "arena rock". Lee and Darran have tapped into this old school flavour, and bridged the gap between then and now with their own take on a timeless sound.
Getting the E.P. underway, is the up tempo and highly energetic 'You Take Me Higher', forcing heads to nod and feet to tap. The infectious nature of 'You Take Me Higher' is immense, and will have fans smiling from ear to ear. And the smiles will remain very wide, as the band power on with the more melodic 'Never Let You Down'. A little heavier than the opening shot, 'Never Let You Down' is no less catchy and instantly likeable - bringing back memories of the glorious eighties, driving around with the windows down, blaring rock music outta the cars stereo. Good times my friends, good times.
And it's those good times that Tapper & Bridge are returning to the fore, with the party rock anthem 'That's All I Can Be' pumping feel good vibes into the air - and man it smells good! Remaining on the heavier side of rock, 'That's All I Can Be' is not a ballad or a hymn-like stroll, it's more of a Sunday morning swagger to the pub for a pint. Yes readers, that's right, back in the day pubs were open Sunday mornings for supping a pint! The fourth and final song 'You Keep Me Hanging' returns the energetic and up tempo nature of the E.P.'s opening shot, bringing a close to a highly enjoyable "takes me back in time" ramble of rock.
Overall, an infectious and catchy four song appetiser for the bands debut album.
