24/7 Hate

Surgical Strike are a thrash metal band from Germany formed in 2014 releasing two albums to date - 'Part Of A Sick World' (2020) and '24/7 Hate' (2024).

Featuring a brand of thrash that's aggressive, fast and precise, Surgical Strike race through all eleven songs on offer in forty four ferocious minutes - 'Initium' a two minute tension fuelled, crescendo building instrumental that leads straight into album opener proper, the frantically paced title song '24/7 Hate'. And a barrage of savagery weighty enough to crush skulls and break bones - Surgical Strike hitting listeners with everything they've got! And they've got a lot - pace, power, aggression and brutality all at the bands immediate disposal, terrifying everyone with an in your face attitude loaded with menace!

And after that surgical sit up and take notice opener, the band roar on with the faster paced 'Fear Monger'. Turning mosh pits into a frenzied sea of head banging maniacs, Surgical Strike are spitting venom, the ferocious nature of the bands music hitting harder than a thousand wrecking balls - the devastation overwhelming, 'Fear Monger' just the start of the albums lesson in brutality! The album marches on with all out speed courtesy of 'The Lesson', the band striding tall and very proud right through the heart of thrash metal territory. German thrash has always been more brutal than either American or British, the legendary Teutonic Four - Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and Tankard, setting the standard almost forty years ago. A standard that Surgical Strike are aiming for, and may well achieve - the youngsters from Sehnde (Lower Saxony) making one hell of an entrance into the worldwide thrash metal arena. The bands sophomore album is very direct, hitting listeners right between the eyes, 'Discover The Evil' hitting so hard it's liable to knock heads right off their fucking shoulders! The band are ferocious here, outrunning the local Verkehrspolizei as they storm down the autobahn at phenomenal speed - there's just no stopping Surgical Strike when they're in this kinda mood!

A highly menacing mood it has to be said, the band not slowing down one little bit as the album storms on with the angst riddled 'Lonely Decision' - the German five piece maintaining the sky high intensity level '24/7 Hate' (the album) began with. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if the intensity remained this high right to the (albums) end, Surgical Strike seemingly on a mission to deliver head bang-able and brutal thrash metal to the masses - a mission that's very much on point, hitting target after target with consummate ease! And with a much lighter approach, 'Alienated' opens acoustically, and for thirty seconds all aggression is shelved! And then bish, bash, bosh, 'Alienated' turns on its heels to resume the savage brutality heard everywhere else - the band an unforgiving tour de force striking right at the heart of every thrasher in the world. The destruction left behind as '24/7 Hate' (the album) blows through every town and city on the planet is devastating, the relentless rampage storming on with the frenetic 'Rose War'. The shortest song on offer clocking in at just two and a half minutes in length, 'Rose War' is probably the most rampant on the album, carving out a fiery trail as it hurtles across the land!

Where Surgical Strike get their ferocity from I don't know, but it appears to be an endless supply, 'cause the band haven't let up since the album began - 'Circle Jerk' entering the fray with a feisty fierceness not heard before! The torrent of thrash on offer is unstoppable, and I for one ain't even gonna try, 'cause I reckon if I stood in front of the band I'd get trampled upon, resulting in a trip to the local A&E with broken bones, bruises and cuts! 'Sorrow Of War II' - a continuation of 'Sorrow Of War' from the bands 2020 debut - is an aggression fuelled romp of head bang ability! And yes I agree with every one of you, the entire album up to this point has been one constant romp of head bang ability - in fact, my head hasn't stopping rocking back and forth since '24/7 Hate' (the album) began. And with only one song remaining, it's unlikely to stop - the albums final hurrah 'Blinder', a savage thunderstorm of ferocity led thrash metal! Which kinda sums up the last forty four minutes really - ferocity led thrash metal! Just what the doctor ordered!

Overall, a full on, aggression fuelled barrage of brutal thrash, '24/7 Hate' is an unstoppable rampage of pure head bang ability.
