The Cenosillicaphobic Sessions |
||||||
Sublind are a thrash metal band from Luxembourg formed in 2005, releasing two albums to date - 'Thrashing Delirium' (2014) and 'The Cenosillicaphobic Sessions' released in 2023...
...and don't worry if you can't pronounce the title - I can't either! And I've tried! Many times! But I ain't bothered - 'cause it's what's inside that counts. And what's inside Sublind's second album 'The Cenosillicaphobic Sessions', is eleven succulent thrash metal offerings, played out over forty minutes of all out aggression and brutality. The band are in explosive mood, devastating the airways with a Slayer-like sound - maybe even more aggressive than the thrash legends! So get yourselves ready readers, this is gonna be a blast! The album gets underway with the high velocity rampage 'F.U.A.D.' - blending aggression and brutality with menace to deliver a breath taking one minute sprint! Simply stunning! And that's just the band getting warmed up...
...'Highspeed Hangover' taking over and devastating the airways with power and force. Sublind are a thrash metal tsunami, moving at pace, taking no prisoners and pummelling everything in sight. No-one and nothing is safe from the bands onslaught - an onslaught that roars on with the (un-pronounceable) and (presumably) title song 'Cenosillicaphobia'. Right then, time to learn - "cenosillicaphobia" is the "fear of an empty (beer) glass", according to a brief internet search, and is pronounced "sen-no-sill-ick-uh-fobia". And 'Cenosillicaphobia' is a high velocity torrent of thrash to make your ears bleed! The bands brand of thrash is vicious, violent and terrifying - I love it! And any fan of Slayer and Kreator are gonna love it too! For Sublind have taken on their brutality levels and raised the bar! Right through the fucking roof! And just like German thrashers Tankard, a recurring lyrical theme seems to revolve around alcohol - 'Boozing Bastard Blues' incorporating a little blues into Sublind's thrash metal roots. Yes readers - blues! Thrash metal blues - what a combination! Will there be a saxophone solo? I wouldn't put it past these Luxembourgers!
What an exhilarating listen - and we're only a quarter of the way into the album! And OMG - the speed of 'Comfortably Drunk' is phenomenal, the band threatening to break the sound barrier! I hope you're all feeling fit, for this is gonna test your energy levels to the max! The pace at which Sublind are racing through the first few songs on offer is incredible, the band showing no signs of slowing down either, as 'False Existence' shows a much more menacing and threatening side than any other song heard so far. And you know what? I think the album may have dropped a gear too! Insane I know, but true - for about one minute and twenty seconds! And then all hell breaks fucking loose, 'False Existence' resuming the high velocity thrash attack of earlier. Moving in a more melodic thrash metal direction, 'Abandon All Hope' is less high velocity and just fast! Very fast! Sublind are delivering head bang-able thrash to the masses, thrash that every metalhead everywhere is gonna enjoy tremendously. Not to mention the mosh pits - they're gonna go fucking mental!
Some of the best shredding on offer sets 'Boiling In Blood' on its way, a turbo charged cacophony of brutal thrash metal destroying everything foolish enough to be in its path! Now I haven't been run over by a steam roller, but I imagine the crushing to be as devastating as the thrash on offer here. Sublind are a bone breaking, skull crushing metal machine. And they're unstoppable! 'For Those About To Riot' has not a lot to do with AC/DC's 'For Those About To Rock', apart from the playful play on words - 'For Those About To Riot' is a barnstorming and bludgeoning slice of aggressive thrash metal. The phenomenal pace of the album has been non-stop, taking away the breaths of listeners with ease! Are you breathless? I know I am! And there's still two songs to go...
...the first of which 'Bommeleeer', is a menacing march of terror! The aggression level has been off the fucking charts all album long, Sublind wreaking havoc with a pummelling to out do a heavyweight boxing champion going all out for a first round knockout! And there's certainly been no first round knockout here - everything the band have thrown at me, hasn't knocked me down! I'm still standing, yelling at the band to "bring it on" - and bring it on they do, with the albums final tirade 'Haaptsaach Kiffen'. The high velocity thrash metal rampage has remained unbroken from minute one song one, to minute forty song eleven. 'The Cenosillicaphobic Sessions' has been a terrific ride, a ride I'm gonna take again and again. And again! And I'm sure you will too!
Overall, a brutally high velocity rampage of all out and aggression fuelled thrash metal.
