Storm Warning

StormWarning are a melodic rock band based in Argentina, centered around vocalist Santiago Ramonda. The bands self titled debut album was released in 2023...

...and features eleven melodic rock come AOR anthems! South America has a reputation for producing extreme, and thrash metal bands - but once in a while a rock band emerges! And this time around, it's StormWarning - comprising Santiago (vocals), and Landfall duo Felipe Souzza (drums), and Marcelo Gelbeke (guitars, bass, and keyboards). The album storms into life with the up tempo and energetic 'Eye Of The Storm' - rocking a sound that blends eighties AOR with soft rock with an arena rock sing a long style chorus. And the silky vocals of singer Ramonda are a perfect match for the bands backdrop of melodic rock. A tension loaded atmosphere fills the air as 'Satellite Falling' comes to life with a darker - but not too dark - feel than 'Eye Of The Storm'. But when the chorus arrives the darkness is lifted and 'Satellite Falling' turns into a sparkling sing a long! And after just two songs StormWarning have set their stall out as an infectious, catchy, and feel good rock band.

Which is fantastic news for every rock fan the world over, especially those fans who love the legacy of American rock bands Journey, Boston, Kansas and so on - StormWarning showing they're more than capable of matching, and maybe going on to better these giants of rock! (And yes, I'm fully aware that StormWarning are not American, but who really cares when the rock is this fucking good). The band move energetically on with the pulsating 'Sweet True Lies', with smiles appearing on the faces of every listener, fan and follower. And smiles that already adorn faces, are now much wider than before! What a cracking opening threesome - that becomes a fantastic foursome, with the more sedate soft rocking 'Question Of Time'. Building a crescendo of melodic rock, 'Question Of Time' breaks out into a hymn-like ballad, full of majesty and an insane desire to sway listeners from side to side. Feel free to raise your lighters high and salute the band for an emotion loaded and power driven slice of balladry. Returning the heavy hitting nature of earlier, 'Storm Warning' rocks hard with 'Neon Skies' thundering across the airways, punching more than any other song heard so far, moving the heads of many listeners back and forth in a gentle rhythmic motion.

A more anthemic feel descends upon the album as 'Way Of The Warrior' enters the fray and strides on with a majestic head held high attitude. The bolder style of rock here is highly reminiscent of the eighties genre changing explosion of hard rock spearheaded by the likes of Bon Jovi and Europe - two great bands that changed the course of hard rock! Are StormWarning about to do the same? Only time will tell, but the band have made a great entry into the worldwide rock scene - 'Soldiers Of Love' maintaining their stellar start with the re-emergence of the hymn-like balladry of earlier. Albeit with a slightly heavier feel, so keep those lighters tucked away and instead raise your arms high and wave them from side to side as though you want to attract the bands attention! And why wouldn't you! The band are performing for you, the listener! 'Lovers In The Dark' with its ballad sounding title, isn't actually a ballad! Instead, 'Lovers In The Dark' is the punchiest song on offer, proceeding to deliver a bold crunch not heard previously - the band continuing their romp around the rock genre. The variation on show is very wide, attracting an even wider, worldwide audience!

And as the album progresses, the energy level remains incredibly high, 'Horizon Chase' pounding the ground hard as it marches on all tall and proud. The band have shown a phenomenal aptitude for delivering sing a long style choruses - crowds in a live arena are gonna be singing along to every word, lyric, screech and scream! Fantastic stuff from the South Americans - stuff which isn't over it yet! There's still two songs remaining! The first of which 'Last Trip To Eden', is the fastest song of all the songs on offer - striding its legs and galloping forth like heavy metal's iconic "foot on the monitor" feel! 'Last Trip To Eden' may also induce mild head banging among listeners, with many of the worlds metalheads turning their heads to see what all the commotion is about! And bringing the album to a close is the hard hitting party anthem 'Call Of The Wild' - full of punch, weight, and balls! And yet another glorious sing a long-able chorus for everyone to join in with.

Overall, an up tempo and energy fuelled feel good album of hard rocking and infectious melodic rock.
