Welcome To The End |

StormHammer are a power metal band from Germany forming in 1993 releasing their debut album in 2000 and the follow up the following year. Three more albums were released over the next ten years, establishing StormHammer as another successful power metal act to emerge from Germany. The bands sixth album, 'Welcome To The End' was released in 2017.
Effects laden and atmospheric 'The Beginning Of The End' sets up an epic style atmosphere for 'Northman' to come crashing through the speakers at a great rate of knots. Thundering and rumbling like a freight train, 'Northman' is a pulsating and adrenalin pumping song that just oozes power. Head bangingly addictive, StormHammer have been around for over twenty five years and know how to please their legion of fans, as well as attract new ones. Title song 'Welcome To The End' heavies up proceedings and continues the power metal assault, bludgeoning the senses with some truly brutal style riffing. Fast paced and catchy, 'Welcome To The End' has an infectious chorus break that is sing along. Slowing the pace to a more mid tempo stomp, 'The Heritage' features Natalie Pereira Dos Santos (The Boris Karloff Syndrome) as a guest vocalist. As the song progresses, it matures into a full on, full steam ahead speed metal rage. StormHammer is such an appropriate band name for the style of music they deliver...very heavy and very hard hitting. |

'Secret' is a barnstormer that epitomises everything great about the power metal genre. The twin guitar attack may have developed in the UK during the eighties NWOBHM evolution, but it is in full swing here, along with the galloping rhythms that just begs for heads to be banged. 'The Law' is menacing and aggressive as it hurtles along at pace, 'Watchmen' is a thunderous, guitar buzzing romp of pure head banging-ness, with 'Road To Heaven' a blisteringly quick speed metal rage. Throughout their career to date, StormHammer have shared a stage with some of the biggest bands in the power metal genre, bands such as Accept, Powerwolf, Grave Digger and HammerFall. 'Welcome To The End' (the album) is seventy minutes in length with twelve songs on offer and is outstanding value for money. 'My Dark Side' is a rampant rage of heavy guitars and galloping rhythms, yet it does switch to melodic soft rock and back again with ease. Let's be honest, StormHammer are making this look easy...
The melodic side to StormHammer is reintroduced to proceedings as 'Into The Night' rumbles in and streaks across the airwaves. Catchy, infectious and memorable for all the right reasons, 'Into The Night' has one hundred percent sing a long ability. 'Welcome To The End' is an album that will be replayed many times over, such is its addictiveness. Increasing tempo and energy, 'Spirit Of The Night' sets an electrifying pace as it races on by, the album simply getting better and better song by song. At almost an hour in, there are still two songs left to go...superb offering from a band dedicated to please. Hurtling towards its end, there is absolutely no signs that the blisteringly heavy and fast paced aural assault is waning. 'Soul Temptation' keeps the heaviness as heavy as it has been since the first song flew out of the speakers over an hour ago. The heavy guitars and thunderous rhythms are a joy to listen to and the head banging style for this type of music can only be described as ferocious. 'The Awakening' is a twenty two second atmospheric intro to the final song, the pulsating and very heavy 'Black Dragon', that also introduces a more growly vocal style than heard on the album previously. If you have never heard StormHammer before, then you have missed out on some of the most sparkling power metal ever. Go get the album...it will be worth it.
Overall, very heavy power metal that is full on and full steam ahead, StormHammer have delivered an adrenalin pumping album of pure heavy metal.
