Call Of The Panzer Goat |
||||||
Stormdeath are a thrash metal band from Sweden formed in 2008, and to date have released two E.P.'s - 'GodRun' (2010) and 'Promodeath 2012' (2012) - and two full length albums - 'Time To Destroy' (2016) and 'Call Of The Panzer Goat', emerging in 2022.
Shunning their country's more famous heavy metal, power metal and hard rock legacy, Sweden's Stormdeath have opted for the harsher, more aggressive thrash metal style - delivering ten songs of brash, brutal, and bludgeoning thrash over a furious forty minutes! The band are firing on all cylinders as the album explodes into life with 'Bombs Away' - a lightning quick tirade of thrash metal to get the blood pumping and adrenaline flowing! Delivered at a vigorously head bang-able pace, 'Bombs Away' is an incredible start to the new album...
...an album that continues apace with 'Deathocracy', equally as fast as 'Bombs Away' - well, maybe just a little faster! Definitely heavier though - the band maintaining their steam roller approach to flattening anyone and everything that stands in their way. And without a pause to breathe, 'Call Of The Panzer Goat' (the album) races on ferociously with 'The Faith & The Dead' setting new land speed records. Yes 'The Faith & The Dead' drops a gear now and again, but by crikey the speed is amazing! The die hard head bangers of the world are gonna love this one - endlessly banging their heads 'til it hurts! And as 'Liquid Fire' explodes into life, I get a feeling that we ain't slowing down for anyone, Stormdeath racing on with an intent and purpose that's simply mind-blowing! The opening four songs have hurtled by in next to no time - just imagine what the remaining six songs will do!
Well let's find out - with the title song 'Call Of The Panzer Goat' opening in menacing fashion, adopting a mid to high tempo foot stomping attitude to become a roaring inferno of blazing thrash! And that chant style chorus is gonna have every listener, fan, follower and concert goer screaming their lungs out - all together now "call of the panzer goat". Fucking great stuff! The aggressively titled 'Urge To Kill' opens with a menace not heard before, quickly accelerating to full speed, becoming the fastest song on the album - so far! With aggression and ferocity levels at their highest too, the band are delivering a barrage of savagery to delight and destroy - a simply incredible display of brutality. And without a break for a breather, the album romps on with yet another fast paced thrasher, 'R.O.A.D.S' picking up where the previous song left off - at high velocity!
And as 'Call Of The Panzer Goat' (the album) enters the final furlong, 'Blood For The Blood God' enters the realms of melodic thrash metal - but only a little. For the band perfectly meld melodic thrash with brutal thrash to deliver a savage barrage that will batter you half to death and then call an ambulance for ya! 'One Man War' is as ferocious as war can be - and is a highly head bang-able rampage of thrash come heavy metal with just a little hint of legendary British metallers Motorhead about it! A lot of traditional metalheads are gonna love this one, and will come to love the whole album too! Bringing a thunderous album to a close, is the equally thunderous 'Soulseller (Back From The Dead', maintaining 'Call Of The Panzer Goat's (the album) astounding speed and head bang ability. If you're looking for an album to give your neck muscles a severe work-out - you've just found it!
Overall, a savage barrage of brutality and ferocity, Stormdeath deliver a breathless rampage of head bang-able thrash.
