Dead Of Night

Stormage are a power metal band from Germany, originally forming in 1996 as Anthem, changing their name to Stormage in 2003, releasing 'Balance Of Power' in 2005 and 'Sudden Awakening' in 2007. The bands third album 'Dead Of Night' was released in 2017.

The long tradition of power metal bands from Germany is never ending. Stormage have been around for a number of years and are proudly flying the German power metal flag. 'Instinct To Defend' opens the new album in a blaze of buzzing guitar riffs and thunderous rhythms. Very hard hitting and heavy, 'Instinct To Defend' will pummel the senses. With heads banging and feet stomping, 'Anguish Of Mind' rumbles in and stomps on its way, heavily melodic in places and an oh so catchy and sing a long style chorus. Pace slows for 'Heretic Enemy' as it slides in, more mellow than what has gone before, until wham and a bam, you get hit with a savage barrage of near doom metal style riffing. Hitting hard at every opportunity, 'Heretic Enemy' is an infectious romp. Displaying ballad like tendencies, 'Prime Of Life' glides effortlessly through mellowness, delivering a powerful blend. A time to catch your breath while swaying from side to side, 'Prime Of Life' has mega sing a long ability during the chorus break.

Returning the album to raw power that is so powerful buildings will crumble and fall, 'Faithless God' is a bombastic barrage of savagery. Hitting so hard lesser mortals will be flattened, the true metal fan will stand tall and yell "bring it". And bring it Stormage do...'In The Line Of Fire' is a mid tempo chug and chop, that just oozes power from every twang and thump. Majestic and epic, 'In The Line Of Fire' is a foot stomp of the tallest order. Rumbling like a jack hammer, 'Drag You To Hell' is a thundering metal assault. Probably the heaviest song on the album, the rhythm gallops and the guitars buzz relentlessly. Stormage have the ability to deliver hard hitting and catchy power metal that is so infectious you'll want to listen time and time again.

Back into power ballad territory, 'Victims Eyes' is a doom heavy ballad that requires lighters to be held aloft and heads nodding from side to side. Throughout the album the vocals are clean and clear, yet for 'Victims Eyes' a much more soulful and mellow delivery. 'The Deadly Blow' returns the album to the majestic and epic power metal style that American legends Manowar perfected during the eighties. Mid tempo and big riffing, 'The Deadly Blow' delivers a deadly blow of savage riffs and galloping rhythms. Bringing the album to a close is 'Borne The Agony', a ballad like intro giving way to a thundering rhythm that races at a hundred miles an hour. Fast paced and very heavy, 'Borne The Agony' is a storming end to a very good album.

Overall, powerful and hard hitting power metal, with mega amounts of catchiness and infectiousness that will have you immediately head banging and foot stomping.
