Thunder And Lightning E.P.

Steve Blower is a singer, songwriter, author, and guitarist from the UK. He is the lead singer and guitarist for British heavy metallers (currently on hiatus) Hamerex. Steve is carving out a solo career for himself - and at a fairly prolific rate too! In the space of just three years, Steve has released four albums - 'Back In Hell' (2019), 'Alive In Isolation' (2020), 'The Prophecy' (2020), and 'Alive In Isolation II' (2021). And now, in 2022, comes the five song E.P. 'Thunder And Lightning'...

...with all the songs written, performed, mixed and mastered by Steve. Featuring a heavy leaning towards the classic sound of traditional heavy metal, the E.P. opens with the title song 'Thunder And Lightning', and a tribal sounding intro to rally his fans, followers and listeners to come forth and hear the new E.P. - as it gallops into life and storms on. Fast paced and echoing the iconic "foot on the monitor" feel of traditional metal, 'Thunder And Lightning' (the song) is a cracking opening gambit - and one that'll make you wanna listen to the rest of the songs on offer.

Steve's music is undoubtedly British - the E.P. moving stealthily on with the more mid tempo, yet heavier march of 'Mummy's Tomb'. A little more menacing than the opening salvo, 'Mummy's Tomb' is more like Angel Witch or Samson, than Iron Maiden or Judas Priest - Steve taking inspiration from some of the greatest metal bands ever! Maintaining the recent level of menace, 'Egyptian King' is a little perkier than 'Mummy's Tomb', but as Steve sings the opening line "I am the Egyptian King" - the amount of venom he spits is deadly! And the ferocity in his voice may just scare a few listeners...so be warned!

Keeping alive the spirit of the eighties and the legendary NWOBHM evolution, the E.P. rolls on with 'From The Grave', a bustling instrumental in the same vein as Iron Maiden's 'Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)' (off the bands 1984 album 'Powerslave'). And if you listen closely at around two-thirds the way through, does Steve pay homage to the mighty Maiden? Methinks so! What d'you think? The fifth and final song on offer 'The Seas And The Skies', features the classic sounding gallop of old school metal, and will please old and new fans alike. Old fans maybe more, because (and yes I include myself here) we were around at the time, when bands such as Iron Maiden "pioneered" the gallop! And as I said before - Steve's music is unashamedly British, and I'm sure he's very proud to fly the British flag. I know I am!

Please note that all of Steve's music is available from his Bandcamp site.

Overall, five songs of classic sounding traditional heavy metal, highly melodic, insanely infectious, and one hundred percent British.
