Immortal Affliction E.P. |
||||||
SpeedStab are a thrash metal band from the USA formed in 2015 releasing 'Immortal Affliction' E.P. in 2017.
Speed and aggression take on a new meaning with new thrash metal band SpeedStab delivering a unique blend of brutality and savagery. Formed by members of previous and current bands such as Burn Thy Eyes, Ground Zero Warhead, Ratsack and Athropic, SpeedStab are setting the metal scene on fire with their debut release. Rattling into life, 'Death's Decay' is a full on, in your face, crushingly heavy opening song that is brutal, ferocious and fast. Growly and throaty vocals that border on metalcore accompany the abrasive rhythm and SpeedStab shout "hello", to the world in a truly aggressive style.
The title song 'Immortal Affliction' picks up the intensity and speed as it storms on, devastating everything that dares to stand in its way. Combining the sounds of Slayer, Kreator and (Max Cavalera era) Sepultura, SpeedStab deliver a vicious and in your face thrash metal assault. A more melodic guitar sound can be heard as 'Murder Of Man' gracefully strides in and the vocal similarity to Mille Petrozza (Kreator) is easily detectable. A breath taking barrage of savagery, 'Murder Of Man' is head bangingly addictive.
The unrelenting thrash metal attack rolls on at break neck speed, with 'Tradition Of Death' weaving a blazing trail of destruction as it rages on by. Guitars chop violently, drums thunder aggressively, and 'Tradition Of Death' has a slight hint of Testament about it. This type of thrash metal is not everyone's cup of tea, but for those of us that love the brutal and savage style, warm your necks up properly before head banging to this E.P. or it's gonna be a quick trip to A & E for a neck brace. Sadly, all good things have to come an end...but what an end! 'War Fire!' is the fastest and most aggressive song out of the five on offer here, and you will find yourself chanting along to the chorus like it was destiny. This is an impressive debut release from a new band, although every member has plenty of experience, and I for one cannot wait for what is to come next.
Overall, savage, brutal and aggressive, this debut release is immediate and in your face, mixing elements of legends Slayer, Kreator and Sepultura to great effect.
