Play The Game

Silent Jack are a hard rock band from the UK formed in 2009 releasing a number of singles before their 'Snakebite' E.P. in 2013. Their debut album was released in 2015.

Heavily influenced by the the glam and sleaze genres made popular by iconic bands Motley Crue, Ratt and Faster Pussycat, Silent Jack deliver powerhouse performances in a live arena and have managed to transfer that energy into the studio. Opening song 'Hellride' has all the energy of a nuclear bomb and the subtly a an anti tank missile. Big riffs and even bigger rhythms will have their legions of fans smiling from ear to ear. 'Whiskey And Me' introduces a slight lean towards blues rock, with a chugging guitar riff and a swaggering vocal performance. Title song 'Play The Game' is an up tempo blast of electricity and you can easily see and most definitely hear why Silent Jack has an ever growing legion of fans.

Catchy, infectious and accessible are all trademarks associated with the glam and sleaze genres and Silent Jack have them all. 'Love Machine' (and no. this is not a WASP cover song) is a foot stomper, a head banger and a very good song. With the ability to cross rock genres 'Midnight Ride' is a much stronger, much harder song. Pace and power in abundance, powerful vocals and exceptional musicianship make 'Midnight Ride' a definite album highlight. Dark and moody 'I Am The Law' takes to the airways and with a menacing vocals style it will send a shiver down your spine right to your toes. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Another blues tinged hard rocker 'Pretty poison' hits hard with a catchy chorus line while 'Turn Away' slows the pace and allows the listener to catch breath, raise a lighter in the air and listen to the (legendary American glam rockers) Poison influences. Fresh, lively and energetic, 'Highway Man' strides majestically forth, with 'Too Many Women' a big blast of chunky riffs, thunderous rhythms and a sleazy lyrical content. 'Outlaw' is a short bluesy, classic rock style song punctuated beautifully with a harmonica...'Love Bite' picks up the pace and is a top drawer rock song, excellent vocals and guitars that just ooze class. All too soon and the album comes to an end in the style of Southern rock, more suited to a smokey bar room than a club venue in the UK. Silent Jack have displayed versatility and exceptional musicianship in producing their debut album.

Overall, sharp edged glam and sleaze style hard rock, full of energy and bluster.
