Into The Storm |
||||||
Significant Point are a heavy metal band from Japan formed in 2011, releasing a self titled demo in 2012 and a three song demo in 2014. The band followed these with a live release, 'Live At Tokyo' recorded in (no surprises) Tokyo, in 2017. The bands first official studio release was the two song E.P. 'Attacker', released in 2018. The bands first full length album 'Into The Storm' was released in 2021.
Significant Point came storming onto the metal scene in 2018 with a lightning quick, break neck speed, ferocious two song attack - and now they're back! This time, armed with a ten song tsunami of epic speed metal that'll just blow you away. Significant Point perform at a speed that'll challenge bands such as Victorius, Cellador, and the mighty DragonForce, as the kings of speed metal. Yes really, Significant Point are that quick! Opening their debut full length is 'Attacker', a blend of speed, power and traditional heavy metal. Rocketing along at high speed, 'Attacker' is a furious flurry of riffs and rhythms guaranteed to violently bang your head. Maintaining the albums blistering opening, 'Heavy Attack' flies in and cruises on at high velocity. The speed and power of the opening double salvo is phenomenal, and extremely breath taking. The challenge for the crown as kings of speed metal is well and truly on!
Significant Point don't hang about, ploughing ahead with the traditional metal flair of 'You've Got The Power'. More melodic than the previous two songs, and highly reminiscent of the iconic NWOBHM sound, 'You've Got The Power' is less speed and (definitely) more heavy metal. And back to blistering speed we go, as 'Riders Under The Sun' gallops furiously on. With no time to take a breath, Significant Point are a whirlwind of fast paced and head bang-able heavy metal - the band making an early claim for Album Of The Year. 'Night Of The Axe' has a very eighties metal feel - the feel of Saxon, Samson, or Raven. You know the feel - majestic and bold, catchy and infectious, and both feet firmly planted on the monitor. This is cracking stuff from a young band just making their mark on the metal scene. But what a mark they're making! High impact and head turning. 'Run For Your Life' is a high powered roller coaster ride of ferocity. The pace is phenomenal, the speed exhilarating, and the head banging rhythm breath taking. This is the stuff of head bang heaven.
The pace is unrelenting. Significant Point an unstoppable tsunami of speed metal. Fans of the aforementioned Victorius, Cellador, and DragonForce need to own this album. The title song 'Into The Storm' is a ferocious thunderstorm of all out heavy metal. A tad more menacing than everything that has flown by so far, 'Into The Storm' is glorious. And changing gear once more, 'Deathrider' is devastatingly quick. With it's sing a long able chant style chorus, 'Deathrider' must surely become a staple of the bands live set. 'Danger Zone' is influenced by the legendary NWOBHM sound and is a thunderous rampage of savage guitars and galloping rhythms, with feet remaining firmly planted on the monitors. The final song 'Running Alone', is the longest song on offer, clocking in at over six minutes in length, and is an epic melodic monster in the vein of classic long song Iron Maiden. 'Running Alone' definitely takes two steps outside the speed metal genre, opting to find a home in the classic NWOBHM genre. But hang on a minute - a scorching guitar solo sees 'Running Alone' threaten to bust out into a lightning quick fury. But no, it remains firmly and squarely in the good old NWOBHM style.
Overall, a superb album of power and speed, Significant Point have emphatically made a claim for the crown of kings of speed metal.
