Obliviation

Seven Deadly are a heavy metal band from the UK formed in 2011 with their debut album due for release early in 2014. Featuring former members of Panic Cell, Seven Deadly play a unique combination of hard, brutal and melodic heavy metal.

The album opens with the brutal chug of 'Play The Game', full of attitude and angst as it stomps along, with a deep gravel like growl vocal performance. 'Life Begins To Fade' ups the tempo and is a heavy metal rampage of thunderous drumming and huge guitar riffing. A very powerful vocal performance and catchy chorus, this is British heavy metal at its best. A delight off the album is the powerful 'From This Darkness', a galloping hard rock song, full of catchy, foot tapping rhythms, dramatic time changes and a screaming guitar solo.

The Fear Factory tinged 'Posthumous' pounds and pummels the senses as it rattles by while 'Blood On Your Hands' has some of the best guitar work on the album, is fast paced, is heavy yet melodic and is catchy too. This is yet another delight off the album and should Seven Deadly be labelled as the future of British metal, it will be a label well deserved. Title song 'Obliviation' is a wonderful mix of brutal and melodic, stomping by at a mid tempo pace and has a "chant" that will send fans crazy in a live arena.

'Remain At Peace' is a mid tempo melodic heavy metal song with some great guitar riffs while 'Allegiance' picks up the pace with some brutal guitar work and yet another powerful vocal performance. Seven Deadly seem to have the unique ability to play brutal heavy metal yet not sound like a thrash/death metal band. The result is catchy, melodic, foot tapping and totally British.

Take 'Pure Steel' as an example; it races along at breakneck speed, has very heavy guitars and a thunderous rhythm, yet it embodies everything that the likes of legendary British stalwarts Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have accomplished - catchy, foot tapping heavy metal with great vocals. 'Remember' is yet another powerful hard rock song that rumbles along at mid tempo, nodding the head in appreciation of a great song. 'The Wrath' rattles and races through with an awesome rhythm so catchy you will find yourself involuntarily stomping your feet. Closing the album is 'Time Ghost', another one of those brutal yet melodic songs with a very powerful vocal performance and some of the most dramatic time changes on the album.

Overall, uncompromising, brutal, melodic and powerful. A superb debut from Seven Deadly reinforcing the power and brilliance of British heavy metal.
