Paradise Over

Selene are a symphonic metal band from UK formed in 2013, releasing their debut E.P. in the same year. The band have just released 'Paradise Over', a six song mini album.

Soaring, operatic style vocals over a hard hitting melodic rock stomp, is the signature sound of Selene, and with this release the sound has gotten slightly heavier yet it hasn't lost any of it's melodic roots.

'Facing The Mirror' opens the album in a blaze of foot tapping rhythms and chugs away relentlessly with a superb quality vocal performance. 'Not Enough' has some very powerful vocals that soar so high they are in danger of leaving our atmosphere. And talking of atmosphere, 'Not Enough' has a subtle shade of dark about it as it haunts it way majestically to an end. 'Still Dreaming' has a punchy guitar sound, a real foot tapper of melodic rock with a catchy chorus.

The title song 'Paradise Over' has a very heavy, very moody, kind of church haunting feel to it before storming off at pace, sounding less symphonic metal, more out and out heavy metal. This is a storming rock song, with just a hint of the operatic vocal style heard on the previous songs. 'Fade Away' is another up tempo, cracking guitar sounding rock song with superb vocals and excellent guitar work. 'Hourglass Fading' ends the album in soulful fashion with a sparkling, ballad like feel to it with a faultless vocal performance. This is a definite lighters in the air song.

Overall, atmospheric, bombastic and foot stomping hard hitting symphonic metal with superb operatic style vocals.
